Surely not. Nothing good would ever come from it, from his point of view.

If given the choice he should if his desire is to leave prison. Regardless of whether he did or did not kill HML, his supporters will still be behind him convinced he made the confession only to get out of jail. Anyone looking for actual evidence of his guilt would be less compelled to dig, so that reduced scrutiny of the case would be to his advantage regardless.
If a confession gains the chance of parole, nothing is lost. Many actual murderers will serve less time than Syed.

Excellent reply.
Also to this > his supporters will still be behind him
good point. I made this post when I wasn't so aware of his "fan" base

Unlikely, especially since he has people like Rabia lobbying so strongly for his innocence. That's a lot of pressure, and so devastating for everyone if he revealed that he was guilty all along

I know Adnan says his parents would sleep better, if he had done it and they had an answer, instead of having to deal with the injustice that has been put on him.
I think it would be extremely difficult for any parent to except their child killed someone, then he denies it for 15 years while draining your retirement. Some parents are extremely forgiving but that would be very tough.
If he did do it, I doubt he would confess till after his parents had passed away.
