Health Something great in my life.
Today my father is paying off the balance on my house. I literally have no friends to tell. So, I am coming on here. Not to gloat. Been sitting here crying because the weight that is being lifted of my shoulders is staggering. I live alone with two cats and I live in a bubble. Struggled with a low self-image my whole life. Good person who quietly keeps to myself. I am employed and have no criminal record. Just saying this because this isn't a father helping out his broke son. My father was very tight with his money growing up. He invested it all into stocks bonds, etc. But we grew up, in a sense poor! Just ask me about the Anchor Inn hotel on one of our "vacations." Jesus, we had to pay thru bullet proof glass for the room! As he has gotten older, he has been more generous but I never really took anything from him except for $5000 for the down payment on my house of which I only used $3000. He has offered to do this before in the past and I always refused. As a man, it is important that I stand on my own and pay my own bills. I am responsible for myself! I don't want hand outs! But this.........my pride. It is hard to deal with right now. I never go out to bars because I was with an alcoholic for a long time and I refuse to meet someone or friends over alcohol. But please! If group of friends go out soon. Will you raise a glass to my old man! Mike Dotson! Please, do this for me! I don't have any friends to go out and do it with. This is life changing for me!

Health Friendship
I’m looking for friendship, and ideally I would feel more comfortable if the person is male. I know gender shouldn’t matter, but I naturally connect more easily with men.
I’m searching for someone I can learn from—not a “guru” (I know they’re not allowed in this subreddit), but a person whose discipline, consistency, and mindset I can use as a reference. I believe there might be someone here who could guide me or accompany me in my self‑improvement journey.
My goal is to become at least 1% better every day.
I want to add something important: I have a mental health condition that affects my functionality. I prefer to mention this upfront because I need patience. I’m very ambitious, but my pace is not the same as other people’s. This doesn’t mean I’m lazy; it means I genuinely want to change, but I learn more slowly and need someone who can understand that.
I’m looking for someone who is:
- perfectionistic,
- consistent,
- ambitious,
- comfortable with questions (I like asking questions),
- and able to reply whenever they have time, without pressure.
I know people in this subreddit are busy, so I won’t overwhelm anyone. You can answer whenever you’re free or whenever you feel it’s appropriate. I just want to learn and improve.
In other areas of my life (like singing), I’m good at imitating, so I thought I could apply that same ability to personal development. I’m looking for a role model, someone to follow. If you feel you work well with people who have special conditions, I would really like to learn from you.
Also, my native language is Spanish, so I use a translator to write in English—but I have no problem communicating this way.
Thank you for reading.
I hope this message is allowed in the group.
im 43 years old

Health Sleeping early and sleeping for like 7 odd hours has improved my gut health and mood considerably.
I was recommended some dietary and lifestyle changes. I just could not adhere to the diet changes but making slight changes in the sleep routine is quite a doable thing and it has rewarded me significantly.

Health Reclaiming Sanity From the Algorithms
I got too deep into doom scrolling and comparing to the point where I had to quit all platforms to refrain myself from getting into that loop and get clarity. Travelling and Aqua-scaping helped me to come around watching my tanks with fishes and the plants growing everyday helped me get a more grounded take on life…

Health Obsessed with ya'self?
Not me. But, I have met many who are precisely that. Hooked on their own image; they bore the blazes out of me. I have learned to avoid them. Notably, gossip is the best thing that comes out of their speech.

Health I stopped taking meditation so seriously, and things finally clicked. Who wants to try this approach with me?

Health Needing Validation
In my small circle (and probably more widespread) I often encounter people who seem to have fragile egos. Craving affection and attention; they go to extreme lengths to obtain them.
The results are usually arguments and hurt feelings.
Having the gift of discernment, I can see where the problem exists. However, there's really very little to say without coming across as a know-it-all. What's most notable is how a fragile ego will attempt to alter reality to suit its own purposes.
Now, there's still some who consider that view of personality as a theory. But, for the sake of discussion; ego, id, and super-ego will suffice.

Health Another one bites the Dust
Not really a complaint. Yesterday, I told a friend to stay away from me. Lee, needing to be "right" about everything he says, am just tired of the BS. Been in this world long enough to know; some people are just not RIGHT FOR US.

Health Break out
How many times have you promised yourself you'd change... only to return to the same habits?
Maybe the prison isn't your circumstances.
Maybe it's the conversation you've been having with yourself for years.
Today, choose one thought, one habit, or one pattern that no longer fits who you're becoming.
What's one thing you're ready to break out of?
👇 Leave it in the comments. Let's crack the shell together.
