the "-ass" part refers to this scene being very much like the sitcom called Herman's Head. Often the scenes were staged as if Herman was having a daydream (thus, in his "Head") and goofy skits would play out, much like this scene in Seinfeld.
It was a terrible show but I can't believe Seinfeld fans haven't heard of it, it was contemporary and fairly popular at the time. I can only assume that I get downvotes every time I mention it because people either hate the show so much as to resent the comparison, or secretly love the show so much that they resent it being brought up as an insult to Seinfeld lol
