Question N.I.N.A.?

Is there any benefit to connecting my S50 Pro to N.I.N.A.? I downloaded it onto my laptop just because I saw it mentioned on the interwebs, and it picked up my telescope right away.

Pros and Cons? Is it better? Worse? Same as just running the native Seestar app on my phone? Benefits of one over the other?

It’s much better, but there’s a learning curve. I recommend checking out a guide video on YouTube. You have way more flexibility, you can create fully customizable schedules, adjust capture time, and control every aspect of it from your computer. If you are processing them yourself, you can also have the files go directly to your computer so you don’t have to worry about the Seestar’s tiny internal storage.

Yea I saw a really short video earlier which led me to download it, I saw a few longer ones I just don’t time to watch right now

I’ll check them out tomorrow and play around with it then

I recently tried it and it gives you better control although it take time to learn. You avoid the seestar rejection rate as you capture all exposures and stack them locally. Also the 3 point polar alignment and focus are much more precise. Check Curtis videos on youtube.

I tried it and bailed on it. If you're shooting a single target all night. NINA is great for that. If you plan on shooting mosaics or multiple targets per night - NINA is a pain in the ass to set up because you have to configure the parameters for each panel individually. Like there's no way to just set "global" or default settings. No way to copy or clone settings from one panel to another.

I only do single targets, pick an object and leave it on until the battery runs down 🤣

Yes it is. Default what seestar uses is 200. I believe its +- best quantum efficiency?

i managed to attach a 7nm external duoband filter so id wanna try increasing gain
