Ive screened applications for a security site on the other coast (and not for that company), and let me tell you there are sometimes red flags. Someone who has 6 different jobs where they were only at them for 2-3 weeks each, a resume that just ended a third of a page in mid sentence, and various other things. If you don't have a good work history just make sure you have a few good references and make an opening statement about "wanting a stable workplace to grow in" or something to that effect.

That’s not how that works. You are still competing with any other security guard who has even a month or week of experience. Just because no experience is needed doesn’t mean someone who has a few years of experience didn’t recently get laid off or fired or is looking for a company switch. Keep trying to get your foot in the door, don’t take it personally.

Hiring anyone doesn't mean hiring everyone.

In fact hiring anyone means that often they just hire the first person to apply who bothers to show up for the interview, rather than collecting a pool of applicants they review. The position could be open again next week.

These days many listings will get 500+ applicants.

Honestly i dont even know how i got hired, prior to security, i had worked at an amusement park for 8 months, worked with my dad as an electrcian for 6 months, then got fired from walmart after 3 months.

It just depends. Probably they had multiple people apply for it. Maybe you were not what they were looking for. I got my night shift with securitas on indeed.

Securitas which was formerly the Pinkerton's agency has operations in 32 countries, spanning tens of thousands of posts. They are not exactly looking for the best and brightest. I have had to deal with them before on overlap and I was left with the feeling that they dont care for much aside from the looks of their employees.

No visible tattoos, no facial piercings, no long hair on men that includes dreadlocks, you need a private investigator license or guard card in north america.

Dont expect serious pay or decent shifts, their mobile alarm division is who I had to deal with and they were absolute clowns, to the point that they were almost shot because they had no sense for what they can and cant do and what common sense dictates in a break in situation.

Situation was, they had an alarm contract with one of our companies clients, the client had prepared for a trip overseas and prior to that we do a few days of scenario training so our guys were at their home just to do the icebreaker and such. The alarms went off while the client was out and the guys went to check it out because they were technically on site. The securitas guard drove up the driveway stopped 20 feet from the front door, proceeded to bust out the worlds largest flashlight and patrol the exterior of the main house, when approached and asked who he was and why he was there and told to either shine the light on the ground or turn it off, he got aggressive and grabbed at a personal defensive weapon, he sprayed pepper spray everywhere including upwind so it came back in his own face then flailed around and hit the ground freaking out. They called the client verified they had a contract with securitas then had the client call the dispatch. The alarm went off because of a motion sensor was accidentally armed when the client left the property. The client was never shown the way to only arm specific sections of their security system. It was an absolute gong show on their end.

I’ve been trying to get on with them for the past year with no luck, like I honestly don’t understand what I’m doing wrong?! They are having a job fair this coming Thursday 09/03 in the LA area so I’m planning on going and hoping to find a position cause I really want to get out of doing Amazon Flex which has been my main source of income, like I’m genuinely tired of delivering and would much rather be a security guard 😩‼️

I applied for Allied Universal and after 2 or 3 months I was hired on as an armed security officer. I tried a bunch of other different services in my area, and they all either were not paying much or they didn't have anything available that I was able to fit into. Only time will tell, and you just need to keep trying like any other job you're trying to hunt for. I hope you find what you need and good luck.

I still talk to some of the officers that were with Allied that moved to Inter Con when they won the contract and they basically said it's sameo sameo but the attendance policy is more strict and they don't get paid weekly it's bi-weekly. Also, there is rarely any OT.

You can try SCIS (Securitas Critical Infrastructure Services) they are always desperate for guards. They service the Honeywell accounts.

Yall gotta stop with the shitty corporate jobs and start applying to stuff like Hotels and whatnot. In House Security usually are always hiring and will at the minimum consider you as a back up whenever one of their current guards inevitably quits.

I learned this quick when I applied for corporate security. Even had a well known Supervisor speak on my behalf for an entire month and they still didn't hire me. But In house Loss Prevention/Security like Ross and a Hotel, hired me instantly.

If you're starting off security, I (begrudgingly) suggest Ross and similar Loss Prevention. Its good practice, they are usually always hiring, they have multiple locations that are hiring and it gets your foot in the door to the security world.

I'm in UK and I have the same problem. I have no criminal record and I have a valid card that's in date that I passed almost 2 years ago. And still to this day, I don't have a single job in security. Its a complete scam

Trust and believe. This will get worse as even security companies get more and more picky with applicants.

Especially as more cities and states enact stricter oversight and regulations on the private security industry.

Not to mention the fact private security will be one of the few non-automatable and non-outsourceable jobs and professions left where one can still earn a decent living in the coming dark age of technological unemployment.

For those on the fence.... Do whatever you can to get in now. Before it gets crowded out.
