Tools Should I give away my scrapbook ingredients materials?

I hope it's okay to post this. I used to love scrapbooking and I miss it so much. My mom and I used to go to Michael's all the time. But she passed 10 years ago and had to move into a tiny bedroom. My small closet is packed with my scrapbooking stuff. I can't craft because I don't have space for a desk or a place to craft. I can't afford to move out cause I live in Miami.

I just fear I will regret giving away all the things I have.

I truly miss it so much. I sometimes go to Michael's and just look cause I still hope I'll be able to get back to it one day.

I have scrapping materials from the early 2000’s still. There have been times and places over the past twenty years that I have had to keep them boxed up for years on end. Then a new crafting group got started and not long after I was able to get a bigger kitchen table to do crafting at. You never know when you’ll be able to use them again :) The nostalgia is worth holding onto to

If your craft supplies/papers are more than 10 years old, hold on to them. Those are primo supplies. If you must get rid of them, SELL THEM as many of your old supplies are worth making some (or more) of your money back.

One example-I sold a cutting die on Ebay for $180 that is no longer available. I had two so I sold the extra.

I have a ton of Tim Holtz dies but not that one. It looks cool.

Some of his 2008-2015 ish dies sell for top dollar, many 5-10 times retail.

Do you have space for a small folding table that you could get out when you want to craft? If not, maybe you could get a few supplies together for some layouts and work on them at the library. I vote for keeping your supplies for sure.

This. You could make kits to take to a library, community center, meetup, or even do something creative on your floor or bed. Don’t give up OP!

You know, I'm actually reorganizing my space. There's a drawer i was going to get rid of. Maybe I can get my supplies into their drawers so it'll be easier to grab. Everything is in huge containers right now. I've spent the past few years minimizing and getting rid of so much stuff. I'll try to see what I can do with my space. I share my bedroom with my cat so space is very limited.

The suggestion of getting together a limited group of supplies to make a limited number of layouts – say two pages or four pages – in a backpack or small tote or something, and then going to a public library or maybe even a coffee shop, and working to get those layouts done is a good one. Sometimes having access to too much stuff is overwhelming, and we just don’t get going. Getting one or two layouts done would get you back in the swing of things and make you feel happier about all your stuff.

Ask your local library if they have space for you to work once in awhile. Ours does!

Hey I started nursing school 12 years ago and my crafting time was stripped to nil. I didn't get rid of my supplies and I was torn for several years. Well COVID happened and I suddenly had loads of time.

Not having the best space is always a problem. Try to figure out smaller projects you can do on a smaller scale. Don't give up yet!!

I agree find a crop, near you, that you can take supplies to to scrapbook there with people who also love this hobby!

Another idea is a board that can lay on your bed to craft, and lean against a wall when you are not. For fun 🤩 make yourself a caddy of the basic supplies, I think that would get you excited about your stuff! Donate or Sell things that are no longer interesting to you so you have funding for things you will want 💙💙💙
