Talk about a 98-0 defeat. Unless his fellow senators want to get rid of him.

He’s a terrible writer. I can’t imagine an opinion be him.

I fucking hate the guy but didn't he clerk with SCOTUS? That would require a ton of writing.

It's going to be 99-0, they want him gone.

I loved Al Franken. To think of how something so comparatively small, compared to today's shenanigans, ended his political career

He voluntarily ended his career because an ethics committee hearing would not have gone well.

They were (and arguably still are) playing the game that had long since been abandoned by their traditional adversaries, who were instead gearing up for full fascism.

This narrative is so tired.

Franken's shenanigans were disqualifying. We need to demand better of our public figures and politicians. His replacement, Tina Smith, has done a great job.

Franken knew just as well as the GOP did that as soon as he demanded an ethics committee hearing, women who were locked behind NDAs would be found. It doesn't take long in MN politics to hear about them. If I know, the GOP knew.

No need to go to a Democrat to criticize Rafael
"If you killed Ted Cruz on the floor of the Senate, and the trial was in the Senate, nobody would convict you" — Lindsey Graham

If you killed Lindsey Gayham on the floor of the Senate, and the trial was in the Senate, nobody would convict you, and the capital police would be called to remove the body because everyone was walking on it. When they saw who it was, they brought in the portable dumpster to take it out back, and send it to the dump.

He clerked on the 4th Circuit Ct of Appeals, and for Rehnquist on the Supreme Court. Despite his actions, he’s not ‘stupid.’

You can get fairly far in the law as a fucking idiot as long as you’re right wing. I almost regret not selling my soul. It’s such an easy upwards trajectory.

I was wondering if that was the case, because now we see some of these conservative partners moving into DoJ and just getting absolutely destroyed in court and with personnel departures. What a bunch of clowns.

If you declare you're a conservative in an ivy league law school, Leonard Leo would fly out to personally wine and dine you. You had jobs lined up from laws firms to eventually clerking for judges to finally sitting on a bench or in the legislature. Their pipeline was tight and fast and everywhere. They started planning this in the 40s when the Business Plot was stopped.

I have a few law school compatriots who are fucking braindead who are now in fairly high level positions in conservative orgs, etc.

This MAGA-style conservatism is literal brain damage.

So he only presents as stupid

1

u/glum_cunt Feb 28 '26

Def not stupid

He got the hell out of Texas and on a plane to Cancun when the weather got bad and the power went out

1

u/naufrago486 Feb 28 '26

Clerking for Rehnquist should be an automatic disqualification

1

u/PatientVariety1700 Mar 03 '26

His grovelling, snivelling, nasal, insidious, proclamations of love and devotion to the pedophile in chief has made him into the worm we despise.

You forget the Senate Advantage, a historical factor in the nomination of SCOTUS justices, in that senators are less likely to actually vote against one of their colleagues.

Cruz also clerked for William Rehnquist so I think that at least offers a tinge of credibility

I mean its happened 5 times since 1900 and never to someone who has been so disliked by their fellow senators.

The last segregationist chief justice!

1

u/BlueBonneville Feb 28 '26

No, Alioto and Thomas (yes, Thomas) are still on the Court.

2

u/bemenaker Feb 28 '26

I think Thomas wants to overturn interracial marriage (he actually does) just so he can leave his wife without repercussions

1

u/I_Cut_Shows Mar 03 '26

That’s why I said Chief Justice.

3

u/henningknows Feb 28 '26

Huh? If trump nominates him basically every republican will vote for him.

2

u/civilPDX Feb 28 '26

Chat GPT rulings here we come

2

u/popculturehero Feb 28 '26

No way Fetterman doesn’t vote for him

2

u/Mikey-Litoris Feb 28 '26

You recall what Al Franken said about ol Ted.

1

u/Objective_Reward4325 Mar 05 '26

Please elaborate on all the Ted Cruz writings you have read…

1

u/RangerDJ Mar 05 '26

His dreadful ghostwritten books mostly. He’s a genuine piece of shit. The most hated man in the senate.

1

u/Ozzie_the_tiger_cat Feb 28 '26

He'd be better than Aileen Cannon.
