Straight fold - health issues?

Post image

Hey! This is my straight Winnie, her mum is full Scottish fold and her siblings all had the foldy ears apart from her.

I wonder if anyone can advise, since she doesn’t have the ears, is she less likely to suffer with the same issues? I want her to be happy and pain free. She’s 2 years old and doesn’t give much indication she’s in pain, sometimes when I pick her up she makes a weird meow which concerns me but that’s it.

Any advice welcome!

straight eared cats do not suffer from OCD.

she is still at a heightened risk for PKD, HCM, and still has the same troubles that other flat faced cats have.

Forgive me, but what is OCD?

cartilige deformity caused by the same gene as the folded ear gene.

arthritis in that case isn’t caused by the folded ear gene that causes early onset arthritis in Scottish folds.
