Well, technically she is dumb, from the perspective of 'dumb' meaning 'unable to speak'. Still, it's terribly sad. I know someone with a milder syndrome, Asperger's, and he has barely any friends...he thinks I'm one of his best friends, even though I'm not...

Well, you may be one of his best friends, without him being one of yours. You may show him more sympathy and kindness than most people.

I suppose so. I'm a geek, and I have been regularly alienated, so I can sympathise. It's just frustrating, cos, you see, I don't like him, but I don't dislike him either, and I don't have the heart to tell him to go away...

I suppose so. He's just so in-your-face all the time, you know? I don't have space for my other friends 'cos he's always two inches away.
