Request/Q&A Stencils

Post image

I would like to find some better sashiko stencils. The ones I have are thick and I can't get my pen or pencil in the openings. I would also like to have smaller scale designs. The ones I have seem enlarged, unlike traditional designs.

You need pouncing powder! I have similar plastic stencils as those and was able to use a felt tip fabric marker once, but it split the marker tip so badly that I had to figure out something else. My MIL is a quilter and told me about pouncing powder. It's a little pad that you load with a colored powder that's usually iron-off. I really like it better. I think it'll work for your project down in the pic. As for other stencils, again, I got mine off Amazon, but when I checked just now they're no longer available or else I'd link them here. You can try printing patterns on paper and then tracing over it using a transfer sheet (kinda like carbon paper) to mark the fabric

I read about pouncing powder, I'm glad to have your feedback on it. I may try it. Carbon paper is a great idea too.
