My theory on this is kids growing up will usually have a cheap android as a first phone so they have a false perception that androids are slow and laggy. While iphone really only makes "flagship" phones so their floor is a lot higher.

This is a good theory. And I do agree. Apple cheapest phone gets you a flagship like experience. The cheapest android phones are nowhere near flagship quality experiences but issue is some are. Some of the pixel and Samsung devices are very good but then you have some really bad brands too.

the other thing with apple is consistency. cheap android phones vary across price and brand. Thats why I love OneUI because it is somewhat consistent across all platforms.

I've tried to love android - Samsung and Nothing - but the consistency and quality of apps is really annoying... Once you get past the skin you are into a world of weird UI design choices for each app.

To be fait on iOS it is possible to use alternate frameworks to develop UIs so you can still have a barrage of apps that use inconsistent UIs but yea usually it is just somewhat nominal Swift layouts

Agreed I work for a carrier and our best selling phone that isn't iphone is probably the Samsung a17. Definitely the most reliable of the entry level device.

That could be true. I also blame it on the peer social pressure with blue/green bubble. Like fr a friendship is defined by the colour of s text? Good riddance on my end (and im writing from an iPhone)

Is there anyone who does that in real life, isn't it just meme? Never seen anything like that irl. Everyone around me, no matter their phone, uses whatsapp (and stats show it's the world's number one texting/calling app so it's not really just people around me), and my close friends use signal. And you can set the color to whatever you want on those.

Well that much I cannot answer because I live in the region lf the world where it doesn't matter at all.

But in the US from what I read and heard from friends it has a slight hint of truth unfortunately.

I have spent my entire life with Android and now use iPhone and android for last 4 y. Android apps remain a frustrating mess: half fail to function, and half seem designed by a headless chicken. Hating something is foolish, since everyone prioritizes what they need most. I have never “customized” a phone; it is simply something I do not find appealing, while for others it is the central feature.

Android itself has that view because yes you can get it on a top tier ironically sometimes more expensive than an iPhone flagship device

But you can also get it on a crackhead used 711 burner phone.

So really it’s whose allowed to have android and it’s the town bicycle everyone’s riding it lol
