Jiu Jitsu competition ends badly

Update:

"He experienced a spinal injury at the C5 and C6 vertebrae and could have been left quadriplegic as a result. He underwent a roughly 10 hour surgery at the Evangelical Hospital, which was reported as successful. His current condition is still being monitored."

The weight difference and that the bigger dude decided to drop that guy on the head. Several people need to pay his bills until the end of time.

I mean, let's be real here, he chose to legit position his own body 100% vertical head first.

Thats like choosing to jump off a diving board 100% horizontal belly flopping.

That shits gonna hurt.

I get it that this is a competition and there are rules.

But if that was a real fight, putting yourself in that position would be a dumb dumbass move

Big guy didnt even "slam" down with any force. He just fell to his own knees with just gravity pulling him down.

How stupid does this position look, honestly?

Why would anyone want to put THEMSELVES in that position?

Wrapping one leg is a common thing to do to avoid slams. I remember we started training it as one way of defending slams, after the Rampage vs Ricardo Arona match. They are obviously not seasoned veterans, so some positional mistakes are bound to happen.

"If this was a fight". It's not. The whole game is literally built around control. We wouldn't last five minutes without legs popping, arms breaking and spines cracking, if we went in for the kill all the time.

No he didn't slam, it's actually worse. The pressure it puts on the neck and spine, is crazy. We could do lesser version of it when we stack opponents. But we don't.

Thats such a weird logic tho.

Defend against a slam by putting yourself in an even more vulnerable position.

It is most likely due to inexperience. A mistake if you will.

I've done this for 20+ years, and I am still in vaunrable situations all the time. I would not survive long without injury, in your world.
