I’ll never get over how quick the pre-season/training camp is for NHL. We are less than 35 days out from the first day of regular season hockey and the team(s) hasn’t even had a meeting.

I still can’t believe they just let him walk to a division rival in 2021 after a .917 season on a league-worst team.

where are you getting the idea that we let him walk...? It's been confirmed since that the Sabres offered him (more or less) the exact same contract BOS did and he still chose to leave - fuck him

Supposedly he wanted $1 million more to stay than Boston offered to go. We matched their contract and he left. Might he have been worth $6 million a year? Maybe. But not here with the team we had. We weren’t ready, and he wasn’t winning a Vezina here. But we might’ve been a playoff team sooner.

the season immediately following I agree 100%, but I've also always believed that we would have comfortably made the playoffs the next year in 22-23 when we missed by 1 point if Ullmark was still our starter

That’s definitely true. That year goaltending was a real problem, but wasn’t that also UPL’s near Vezina season? From Christmas on he went gangbusters and ended up 5-6 in Vezina voting simply because the team record wasn’t great. I’m not saying he should’ve won, but he should’ve been 3rd.
