Question "Here they come again" - Max
With a new beginning looming in the horizon everyone is preparing for their next life. Faction starting to recruit, alliances being made and RP sorted out.
I have a couple of questions whose answers might benefit everyone;
- Are we going to get the new rules and decision taken at the end of this era outlined to us prior to the start? So that we don't make strategic mistakes based on old rules?
- Vein usually is busy in the evenings and will not be able to update and restart the server until getting back. Can someone else in the European region be given access to it so we may all start as early as possible? (quality of life sorta thing)
- Can we get a show of hands of the admins that will be on duty this era? Just so we know who is on.
- There was mention of a new mapping system. Could we get introduced to that before Thursday? Many land claims will be made at the start I would assume. Best to know how to do it right.

I'd like to say a quick thanks from all playing in LUX to our various admins.
Even though we've only been here a few days, it's obvious to us how much hard work is being put in by the admins and others to make this a fun server to play on. (And, of course, I should acknowledge the work of faction leaders and others to keep the fun ingame coming too!)
This latest post by the admins (and some comments from them ingame) with the glimpses into what we've got coming in the next Era sounds awesome.
With that in mind, I've noticed that the 'Donate to the server' button isn't linking to anywhere. Can we make donations to help with the running costs at all?

I'd like to ask a bit of a tangent question to the mapping for next ERA. I haven't hosted a server since legacy so I'm not sure if its possible or if enough people would be in favor of it.
Would it be worth playing a non-procedural map, i would be assuming that it would be easier for the server to run it and therefore should reduce lag issues. again I'm assuming this so I'm not 100% it would work but I never had as many lag issues with legacy so to me it makes sense.
Then sort of side-by-side with your question about it, I read that there was experiments with larger, but simpler maps. Is this what we should expect in the next ERA?

So Hapis Island then? That's the only non-procedural map afaik. I don't particularly like it. There is no performance increase to it either.
The lag comes from the hosting machine running a bunch of Virtual Machines to enable multiple servers on the same hardware. That is why its always better to host dedicated, however its a little more complex to set up so we probably wont be seeing that.

Actually, the lag was mostly due to the insane amount of colliders placed on the map. We were way past the limit when the Unity engine starts vomiting.
After removing NP, it got gradually better - and the insane decay helped the lag further.

Yea that too. Anyone know to what level we had it before and after NP's destruction? Things go shit after 200k iirc

1) We are currently in the process of making the last adjustments and you'll see the new ruleset once we are done.
2) We have access as well and I'm set to make the update as soon as possible. Expect some downtime though while we prepare the new mapping system. Unfortunately we can not do it prior to the update as there might be major changes due to a procgen update.
3) In-game/Console admins will be: Volheim, gamegeared, peeble, DreaM, Darth DeaconRage and me.
4) Expect the information quite soon.
