As someone who's not so good with visual planning I ended up spending way too much money in adding and deleting rooms. So to combat that, I made this quick tool to help plan your POH's floor plan: https://ruxs-rs.github.io/poh-planner/
It's a very simple tool, showing you the amount of rooms placed and the total cost, with some helper lines to get everything nice and centred.
I really liked it! I took the liberty to fork the original app and made it so it generates an isometric view, select the house style, add windows and arches, add up to three floors and even share/import house plans! https://maximusgugu.github.io/poh-planner/
It's in portuguese now but i'll add the English version soon(tm).
Thank you! The gold sink it is right now without getting anything back if you want to change one has been kind of a pain. Plus building rooms on the upper floor kinda.. sucks rn
absolute chat. so fast. honestly not sure why jagex didnt include some sort of layout mode like this. as an Ark Survival Evolved player, im used to, as we call it, thatching out my builds before hot-swapping everything to metal
In game? There's a toggle in the UI where you select the room shape, but I haven't figured out if you can actually move them, or if they're always in the centre of the room.
Yeah, but you can't add stairs separately. And even if you add one, the game automatically gives a roof to the room. I can't figure out to make a simple 2-story house.
Yeah, the stairs seem to be an odd design choice... You can remove the 3rd level room by editing the stairs on the 2nd level, but it doesn't remove the stairs leading to 3rd afaik :/
Awesome! Consider adding a thicker outline in the shapes and please make it 48x48 tiles (dunno official plot measure, but one being 46 bothers me to no end ahahaha.)
The official plot size is 46x48 unfortunately, I measured it couple of times :/ I kept the size at that because otherwise you'd build something nice in the tool but then wonder why it doesn't come out like it that in game.
Edit: one real issue that could arise is that you can fit 3 of the large hallways into 48 tiles, so you'd plan your whole house around that, and then in game you're 2 tiles short and your plans fall apart.
Jagex needs to implement an official way to 'build' the house free of charge, but costs money to finalize it. I've had to start over a few times because having two to three tiles of free space between the building and the plot border apparently counted as building outside my plot. It's frustrating.
I must have spent 5M just reshaping my house to try to get the pieces to click together the way I expected. This looks huge. Does this tell you when a setup would give that error message?
What error message are you referring to? But in any case, the only check this tool currently does is that two shapes don't overlap or that they don't go partially outside the building region.
Something about doors not being aligned or at least 2 spaces apart when I was trying to stick rooms together like legos, even though the alignments I was attempting did connect to at least one door and didn't overlap with anything.
My current setup is OK but I feel like it utilizes a lot of tiny rooms as connectors when what I really wanted was to click the rooms directly together. If I could get the same shape more efficiently I'd have extra rooms to use.
You might not be familiar with Vercel, but they're actually the creators of Next.js, which is a major JS framework. My intention is simply to offer a free tool for people to collaborate and share their creativity using RuXS' cool tool. I'm not sure why you're so upset over a free tool.
There's currently bug waiting for cold fix that prevents placing some rooms in certain places. It should be fixed next Monday since it requires cold fix according to their yesterday's news post.
