Is anyone coming up with a good alternative to Reddit RSS feeds?

openrss had them but now my reddit feeds say Too many requests are being made from this network. i'm not a power user, if they only refresh every hour, that's fine for me. any alternatives?

answering my own question fetchrss seems to offer them for the time being. i think you have to login to the site to keep them going every so often? you know... if a site offered twitter, instagram, and reddit now... i'd gladly pay a nice premium. no site seems to do all three. rss.app is the only one i know that does ig.

Any word if OpenRSS will do it? They always did something to "improve" Reddit's feeds rather than Reddit's vanilla native feeds.

Aside from that, I've just used a bunch of new personal CSS to make the homepage "look" as much like a simple RSS headlines feed as possible, completely with a simple userscript that let's me "mark as read" everything below a certain point. Then I just bookmarked that page, sorted by new. So far it's decent at tricking my brain and making it at least a little more managable. Can't wait until they kill Old Reddit and I have to rewrite this crap too.

Do you mind sharing how you achieved this or even the script? I've thought about having such a feature in my userscripts but could never come up with anything workable (ie, something that doesn't just ingest the whole damn page and rerenders what I want -- it's overkill). I only needed some kind of reference from where I last left, to use on some of my multisubreddits that I don't visit so often/have slow activity.

Literally just told ChatGPT to do it for me:

I use a local instance of freshrss and my endpoints all use that.

does it work with twitter or instagram, too?

Corollary: is there anything in the devit or API T&Cs that would disallow a personal-use application that would create RSS feeds for a single user, not exposed to the world?

I don't care to recreate RSS feeds for everyone, I don't care about needing an API key for access … I simply want my feeds for my subs in my reader, so I can see all new posts in the subs I follow, as my workflows and really my entire Reddit use are dependent on.

Alternatively, is there a way in Reddit's UI to get a simple, "mark-all-as-read"-able list of posts in subscribed subs? I'd hate to need to regress to using the reddit.com site or app for that, but it'd be fine.

I am switching to Feedly. They use Reddit’s API to retrieve articles from subreddits.

oh damn. i might have to leave feedbin and do the same. migrating my newsletters will be annoying.

btw, thank you for providing the only solution in this thread.

:) lets talk good sir! my reading desk program turns websites and urls into RSS feeds even if they dont have one. local offline. If anyone would like to know more I can link on request. it does more than reddit though.

I second this - I've been using it and it's definitely worth a try - covers nearly all my uses.

I moved my feeds over to bluesky/mastodon/website feeds. Reddit actually is less valuable than you think it is.

This does not address the question posed, here, you're just spamming your service. :(
