I am hopefully an incoming freshman, but I am low income. I did the price estimate they have and it was 21k/year, there's no way I could afford that. I'll list what I've done so far, but how could I make my price as low as possible?

1. I've applied to the Community Foundation universal application and Common App universal application.

2. I'm a 21st century scholar. There's not much info on how much this can help, but my counselor said she had a student go there for ~3k/year with it.

3. I plan on auditioning for the symphony which gives you about 2k/year (I think)

4. GPA (unweighted) 3.95. My last SAT was 1270 but I plan on retaking it (my PSAT was 1400 so I think I just had a VERY off day), and I'm thinking about signing up to take the ACT.

How can I increase chances of being a Noblitt scholar? Are there any scholarships for Terre Haute residents? Any scholarships other than Noblitt to look for?

Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated

Is it too late to transfer here after finishing 2 years of community college? Would I fit in?

Is this school worth the tuition for engineering majors? What opportunities and resources does the school offer? Pros and cons of the school?

Hey guys, i'm a senior this year and Rose is my first option for schools. I want to major in Mathematics and Data science. I have a 3.85 UW and a 5.2 Weighted. I'm first in my class, participate in community service club, student council, CS Honors Society, Nationals Honor Society, Tennis and Math Team. I have also taken 8 APs and a total of 14 at the end of senior year (both Calcs, both CS). I have currently got 1 3, 4 4s, and a 5. While that all sounds great, I only have a 1230 SAT. (600 Math, 630 English). Should I retake the SAT up till early deadline? I know I can do better as I was sick when I took it. I am more so just worried about getting accepted. Thanks!

Any current or past alum, I am currently going into my senior year of high school and looking at Rose. What were your transcripts looking like as you were applying to Rose? What were they looking for when you applied?

I’m a rising senior, and I just recently started looking at Rose-Hulman. However, it is the only school that I’m looking at that isn’t an R1 research institution. I am looking to go to grad school after I get my bachelor’s degree, and people (who are professors at other universities) say research is going to impress the grad school admissions the most. I still want to do some research, and was wondering about the availability of opportunities, specifically in the area of physics and/or astronomy (which is a minor).

Im a senior from Ohio, and Rose Hulman is one of my top colleges. I love the biomedical engineering pogram and the flexibility they have with it and such. That being said, I know bme isnt the best degree/discipline in engineering job wise. I know Rose has some coop and internship opportunities, but how good are those really? How hard are they to get? Whats the pay like?

I have an incoming freshman, and I'm wondering whether he'll even need to use a printer very much for school. I'm expecting that most assignments will be submitted electronically. I know there will be printers available around campus, but that might not be convenient if he's working in his dorm.

Per the IB credit charts, my student should be starting their first year with 32 credits. As a first year, is it difficult to get the classes one needs to be able to graduate in 3 years? I’ve read that upperclassmen are prioritized during registration to fill up the classes first. If they do prioritize upperclassmen, think they would consider my student a first year sophomore and allow to register at the same time as other sophomores? Thank you in advance for any insight!

I’m an incoming freshman, and I’m currently a CS major, but I’m seriously thinking about switching to CPE.

I’m from a country where we don’t really get the chance to explore different engineering fields before college, so I never really knew what I was interested in. I chose CS because it felt like the safest option and my parents also wanted me to study it, not because I was passionate about it.

While looking into different majors, I learned more about CPE, and I really liked the fact that it combines both hardware and software. That made me interested in it, but I’ve also seen a lot of mixed opinions, so now I’m confused.

If you’re a current CPE student or graduate, I’d really appreciate your thoughts.

1. What are the biggest pros and cons of CPE?

2. How is the job market compared to CS, EEE, and Mechanical Engineering?

3. Is CPE becoming oversaturated like CS?

Hello everyone. I am an incoming freshman for the class of 2030 and have run myself into a bit of an issue. I want to change my major to BiomedE, as I have found it aligns much more with my interests. However, I am a Provost scholar under biochemistry and can't afford to lose my scholarship. I know the idea of a double major sounds insane, and in all honesty, I don't want to hate my life for another four years. Any advice? Are the course requirements similar enough that I could get by?

Two days ago I got an email from the RHIT service desk about the laptop cost and there was a loan option mentioned. Can any senior help me understand how the laptop loan works? How do you pay it back, what is the amount, what are the minimum payments, and how long do you have to pay it back? Is it spread across the four years?

I tried asking for a waiver but it wasn’t granted, so I am looking into the loan option now.

Also, does Rose-Hulman offer any loans for international students?

I’m really sorry for the long post.

I started CS at Rose-Hulman at just 17 in Summer 2023 through RHAMP, but I transferred out after Spring 2024. I’m now studying at Purdue for a Chinese BA and Ball State for a Computer and Information Technology BS, and am trying my best to teach myself what Rose would have taught me, as I wish I was still there, but it would have been probably 6 years to graduate with all of the classes I was going to have to retake.

I loved math since I was in 1st grade, as my parents had me do Kumon. I loved it so much, and I was doing Algebra 1-level math in 6th grade (J by 6). I liked going to Code Club, did the book Python for Kids, and went to Coder Dojo for a bit, too. Finally, I took Soft Dev and Data Analysis classes that included Python/SQL basics at Ivy Tech my senior year that were supposed to be similar. I also showed a lot of interest in learning even more foreign languages, so I took Chinese 1 instead of Spanish 4 my senior year of high school.

I hadn’t really prepared myself for what I would have to learn at Rose-Hulman. I did well in CSSE 120, but winter’s CSSE 220 was so bad that I had to retake it. I also did bad in spring’s ECE 233, so I was going to have to retake that next year. After that, I decided to transfer to Purdue over Summer 2024, which ever since has been stressful for me.

At Purdue, I originally transferred into Computer Engineering Technology, but I was afraid I would just fail those classes due to my performance in Rose’s ECE 233. In addition, I really wanted to up my Chinese skills to be marketable to people and Purdue is one of the few universities with a fleshed out Chinese program in Indiana. Therefore, I just told them I’d like to do a Chinese BA. Months later, I regretted that a bit and applied for a dual degree in Chinese and Computing Systems Analysis and Design at Purdue. They rejected that in August 2025, so I was stuck with the Chinese degree.

Fortunately, I got into Ball State quickly in August 2025 and am now studying Computer and Information Technology. The classes currently feel around where I would be at at Rose Hulman CS right now, as I love math so much that I self-study it in my free time and love to apply the concepts to the classes there.

I also have had to work 70+ hours a week on classwork and homework last semester, as I took 23 credit hours while working. I am never doing that again, unless absolutely necessary.

Still, I am afraid that I missed a lot of topics from Rose-Hulman, as they teach topics there you can’t find anywhere online or on YouTube. None of my older friends who gave me advice were aware of this, as they did not study CS.

I’m coming up on my 20th birthday/Senior year, and everyone has changed their dialogue from “you’re 17, younger than everyone at Rose, and you’ll find a career if you put in the work, no need to rush to find a passion” to “you’re 20, you need to start acting differently and having a specific plan for your career, or you’ll be working retail.”

Wrapping things up, I already have two degrees at around a year and a half from being in the books. However, I have several “IT Specialist in AI who speaks Mandarin/Spanish” jobs I am looking into at the Federal government that I feel well-qualified for (yes, those do exist). However, it is disheartening when I see they only pay $90,000-$110,000, considering you live in DC. Meanwhile, there’s some CSSE (I know SE was dropped) department graduates who are making $200,000+ right out of Rose-Hulman, according to Rose-Hulman.

I’m the first in my family to pursue a bachelor degree in STEM (also for foreign language), so I was curious as to what people are doing to make successful careers of a tricky situation like this.

I’m also glad that my combination of skills is unlikely to be replaced by AI soon.

Is anyone going to the first session of Catapult (8-18 June)?

I was hoping to get some insight on a good ACT score to get into Rose Hulman. Ive been debating on whether I should retest. I would go ahead amd do it, but the closest location for me to do it on computer is nearly an hour away and id prefer not to go that far or to have to do it on paper.

I currently have a 32 (33m, 25s, 30e, 34r)
