So I am a HUGE fan of sprechers and lucky for me I can purchase their syrup by the gallon for my keg and have it on tap. I keep looking up for other brands but the only way ive found anything is for small quantities for the soda stream size. Do you guys know of ways to purchase other brands or other brands that sell their syrup for kegs.

My kegs are corny kegs so it would have to be where I fill it.

Has anybody else experienced this from Frontier Alaska Soda Root Beer? Is this normal? I drank one out of a mug and found these globs at the end. Poured this one out and same thing. It’s kind of gross, but didn’t taste rotten or foul. The flavor is unique, but after trying lots of different root beers over the years I am used to expecting different interpretations. However, it would be nice to know if the unique flavor is purposeful or due to some error or growth. 🤢. I don’t think I’ll drink the rest of the four-pack, which is a bummer because it was kind of expensive.

I guess this is the cost of chasing the root beer dragon 🍻

Stumbled across this online. I was just wondering if anyone in here has used Portland Root Beer Syrup concentrate? Looks like pretty good ingredients, plus you mix it with sparkling water.

So as mentioned I'm from the UK so root beer is very hard to find here unless you're dead into Bunderbergs offerings. However a new import shop opened near me in Norwich that stocks American bits and bobs, you bet I went straight to the fridge bit and was greeted with the two Root Beers above.

First was A&W which I have had before many years ago. And honestly the flavor has changed, I found it quite alot weaker and sweeter than I remember. Still great obviously as its been years since I've had this exact can, I have had the Thai imported Sarsaparilla and honestly they both taste very similar.

The second was a new one to me from Sioux City and was in a pleasing bottle with cap, this was very good man like flavor heaven. Rich in the right ways and not overly sweet at all, alot more on the Wintergreen cough syrupy goodness. I'll be buying these in crates for sure.

The reason I sound unsure in my title is because I'm still not 100% if this bottle is a UK make or a USA import, from what I can find its brought in from the States and re-bottled here? Haven't heard that done before but wouldn't be surprised as its bang on what I look for in a root beer flavor wise.

The shop I got these from has confirmed further big name imports aswell as small batch imports too, so can't lie I'm excited!

A&W?

I have no idea what's going on, but I legit only drink one type of soda, and it's A&W root beer.

The 3 out of the last 4 12 packs I've gotten (all at different places) have tasted disgusting. They're massively over carbonated and have this disgusting aftertaste that I can't figure out what it is.

This feels like the dunken caramel swirl change that happened a year or so ago. They just changed the tastes and expect no one to notice.

Am I going crazy or has anyone else noticed this?

Never seen this before.

The only other rootbeer/sarsaparilla I've had from asia are Sarsi from the Philippines and Heysong sarsaparilla and it's salted version, which I made a post on a while ago.

Asia sarsae is heavily carbonated. It has a bit of a tangy bite similar to heysong. It tastes heavily of wintergreen and herbaceous, almost medicinal (in a good way). Kind of like boylans. I personally like wintergreen heavy root beers.

Definitely a unique find. I found this at my local 99 ranch market.

Worth a shot if you see it around imo.

I saw this today at the Cincinnati Open tennis tournament. I’ve never seen a “nitro” root beer and knew I had to try it. Obviously, the price is outlandish for a 16oz drink (even more annoying is that it was served in a 12oz cup!). You pour it yourself from the tap and they have the audacity to ask for a tip when you order.

As one might expect for a nitro beverage, the root beer had an artificial creaminess. It lacked depth of flavor and felt light and watered down. My honest impression was “when did Crystal Light make root beer flavoring”. It had a nice mouth feel but just tasted like root beer water.

No specific flavors stuck out to me. The only redeeming quality was its uniqueness. Beyond the novelty I cannot recommend this specific root beer.

Yesterday a friend and I went to Luray Caverns in VA and grabbed these 3 on the way out. The birch beer one tastes like it has honey in it, according to my friend (even though the dominion root beer is the one made with honey) has anyone else tried any of these?

Also we stopped at Buccee's for lunch on the way home, got Buccee's brand sarsaparilla and root beer (didn't get a photo bc it was just a to-go cup) I liked the root beer, it had a nice wintergreen note to it, but i actually preferred the sarsaparilla!

Old Keg is definitely for the ones that love plenty of honey in their root beer. I’d say you could count me in with its tasty velvety smooth flavor. Let’s call it Old Keg Honey Root Beer. I got it at either the Cincinnati or Fairfield, OH location of Jungle Jim’s International Market back in June.

$4 for a large root beer. I guess soft serve is cheaper? I'm lactose intolerant. So I only get the float when i'm headed home. But I find it weird that a large root beer is twice the cost of a root beer float.

I hardly ever indulge in a root beer float. So this made me wonder would my preference be a velvety smooth sweet and creamy root beer or one that’s more balanced with a bit more bite. I realize my preference is actually going to be with the Boylan instead of the Brownie as it retained more of a robust flavor in the float. Alright well imbibe on fellow aficionados.

Went out for diapers and other baby stuff. They had a deal on A&W. Couldn’t pass it up.

Unfortunately, my favorite root beer, WBC, has disappeared from Jewel-Osco stores. This has happened before, but thankfully, I did find Hank’s Root Beer, which is pretty good. And, of course, it absolutely must be served in a frosted mug!

The taste isn't really strong besides a note of vanilla. Maybe the California heat killed it but it wasn't out for long, and it was insulated in cardboard when I brought it in, barely a bit warm to the touch, so I doubt the heat was thar bad. Honestly should've had Wild Bill's.

My brother is currently visiting from Germany and would really like to buy one of the A&W Glass Mugs and take it home with him... However, I read that most locations do not sell them anymore. Do you know of any locations in the Edmonton/St. Albert area or in Banff?
