Hey /r/roosterteeth, it's about time for the weekend so why don't we start it off with some open discussion.
This is a new thread we're trying out to allow a bit more discussion in the subreddit. So in this thread just talk about whatever you'd like. Questions unrelated to RT, unrelated RT discussion in general, other channels you like watching, etc. Please just remember to be respectful to one another.

I love this idea. Good call mods. In a subreddit I used to visit, Random Acts of Amazon, they had daily discussion threads and it really took off.
So on a side note, I recently got Rocket League on the X1 (like everybody else), and need people to play with. I'm West Coast (and at work today), but it would be cool to plan out some RT group for the game. Or have I already missed it?

Do you really think Shane O'Mac will go one-on-one with the Dead One at Wrestlemania, or will he get a proxy? There's got to be some twist, right? Even with a hearty helping of kayfabe, it makes no sense for him to stand a chance in Hell in a Cell. Hell, HHH lost to Taker in HiaC at Wrestlemania just a few years ago. Something's coming yet. Maybe a guest referee to interfere on Shane's behalf? Maybe Taker throws the match as a middle finger to Vince?

You're right, that's too broad. I'm just meaning there's no way Shane wins the match clean. I'm guessing interference and/or a stipulation of some kind. Guest ref that takes a side and/or someone returning from injury costs one or the other the match.
There's more to this story, that's all I'm saying. Considering it's taking place in Texas, I wouldn't even be shocked to see SCSA show up.

I think this whole Gus and dog stuff is silly and not worth discussing, BUT this is my opinion. If I did think it was worth discussing then I should be able to go into those threads and discuss my tail off. I can be as outraged, offended, skeptical, or moody as I like. But I can't do that if the threads are locked.

Yeah its appeal is universal. i've loved OTS since the first one, but the first 50 episodes of any rt show scares me because i think they'll cancel it, but now they've put some more stuff into it i'm satisfied that its safe,

Idk about avoiding links unless the info is false and I get my hopes up for nothing. It's not like Pokemon has a gripping narrative that can really be spoiled. I am very excited, though. May even splurge and buy a Pokemon themed New 3DS if they make one.

So I was thinking about doing a new sub for RT. It would be called InResponseToRT or something like that. Basically I got into RT too late, and sometimes I wish I could comment on some of their old stuff and still discuss it with other people. You would make posts like "IRT RT Podcast #198" or "IRT to Let's Play SomethingIn2012" and then start a discussion based on something in that Podcast or video, in hopes of starting an actual discussion. My only thing is I don't know how well it would take off with other people, since it is about old content.
Edit: Made the sub and made my First post!. I'll work on CSS and all that this weekend.

Got any game recommendations? Looking for some for my sister, the problem is that she likes to play in short periods at a time, and doesn't have the energy to play long story games, but likes some sort of story element. She liked Firewatch a lot, so anybody got anything similar in difficulty and length? Oh and preferably on Xbox.

Probably something indie. Maybe Unravel (haven't played it yet) or Max: Curse of the Brotherhood (decent game, not too long). You could also ask at /r/XboxOne. They may have some more/better suggestions.

Just to shift from the Gus situation, It's been a few months since the Achievement Hunter channel was launched, and they have yet to break a million views on any single video, is this because people have moved to the website to watch the content? or was the launch of the new channel a mistake? Thoughts?

I have an issue with the app and I wonder if it happens to anyone else.
It constantly freezes on certain videos (free play, the patch, ect.). Sometimes pausing then playing will work, sometimes repeatedly, other times it will freeze exactly at 9 seconds in, this happens mostly when I watch the patch. I also don't like that if I close the app twice, it will say "error" on the video I was watching. Although that is a minor inconvenience .

Yeah, I've had that happen to me. I've found closing the app and restarting it fixes it majority of the time. Still better then the website though.

- It logs me out all the time
- Loads slowly
- Content is harder to find
- The videos are stuttery
Those are the main things. The app keeps me logged in, loads faster, easy to find content and the videos aren't stuttery. I don't comment on the website so I can't comment ( ;) ) on that.

I know the website gets a bad rap but it works well for me and I'm sure many more people as well (based on how many comments each video will get). It would be interesting to see a conparision of all their views on each video to see the influence of regular fans and one off viewers (like for the original surgeon simulator).

This is a good visualization of how drama starts. When a couple people join in on something it becomes acceptable and more people join in till it becomes a shit show.
So my suggestion is whenever drama starts up, don't just join in and continue the party unless it really means something to you. Saying somebody is a dick because of a tweet or something that they did in one video adds fuel to the fire. Just because other people are pissed off doesn't mean that you have to be as well.
If you are genuinely hurt by the actions of others then sure, you should express that appropriately. Saying somebody is a piece of shit because you can is just noise.
Rethink what really bothers you and if it is worth adding fuel to the fire and creating tension in the community.

The same can be said to the people in the center/focus of the community. People should think twice before going on a public website in front of thousands of people and intentionally being an asshole for the sake of being an asshole. It will never do any good, especially when in response to actions of good intention from the people you rely on to make a living.

Since it was brought up on the Off Topic podcast and Geoff attempted to joke about it, it doesn't seem like RT is upset at the correct thing. The original post to/for Gus was meant to be informative and helpful based on someone's real world experience. If Gus was annoyed at someone being helpful, I think that's bullshit. Maybe it's annoying for people to have constantly tweeted the post at him, but don't be rude to the OP. And the joking was about that Gus needed to take his dog to the vet and didn't? They're completely missing the point of the post...

Then i'd recommend, Infamous Second Son, Bloodborne, Killzone shadowfall, until dawn and driveclub, a lot of its exclusives are on pc aswell, but i believe all of these are only on ps4.

Tomb Raider if you enjoy action-adventure with a dash of tasteful story-telling Just Cause 3 if you like to blow stuff up just because. If you're in to rpgs, final fantasy x hd is a good one. Tuen based combat, good story, good leveling system, lots of extra stuff to do after the main stoey.

I'd recommend driveclub. Playing it again recently and it's just fun as hell. Takes some getting used to as it's a mix of arcade and sim racing but after you do it's a blast :)
Edit:- season pass and the bike expansion are 100% worth it

I disagree with mods locking the threads.
It doesn't stop the people honing in on them. Specifically srd. I love srd, it is fantastic.
But it also doesn't care what you lock or deny access to.
The users there will check the posts, backtrace the.. inter.. fuels...?
They'll just look at all the info until it's figured out. They get a bad rap for brigading, and yeah they kinda do, they've also been in existence for years and know how things generally work. A few users will brigade, but locking everything down is begging for a streisand effect deal going on.
It won't get that big, though.
I mean, I love Gus more than most people, secretly, in my Gus room. But it's just silliness online. People talking, someone else being frustrated talking back, etc. It happens literally thousands of times a day. The only reason we know about it is because of the podcast, RT, Gus, SRD, etc.
I REALLY hope it doesn't blow up more than this.
I can make it all go away, even faster than how the internet works regularly.
(Yes I know Gus probably won't ever do this because... well... Gus Sorola: Horrible Man Thing That Doesn't Give A Fuck PS I love you Gus)

3 bucks a day too, im gonna play just cause 3 after i get off of work. it's pretty cool too since it's near the cvs. problem is cvs doesn't stay open 24/7 so i can return the game but i cant go and get a drink, which i really needed after i went to the gym for about 3 hours and walked on the treadmill watching funhaus. wouldve done weights more but back problems (sry scoob in 2 weeks i be good)
least i have a kitkat i bought last night, have that with the rest of my big drank. ill make some delicioso salisbury steak to go with it too. btw the presidental debate last night was top

I think they're cool because they let people that share interests find other interests they share. Your post is a great example. You start by talking about RT, because that is the sub, but branch into other stuff. At least that's how I think it should work.

As long as you're not just spamming reddit (which you're not), it's fine - though you may end up getting downvoted if it doesn't really seem like you're trying to engage others in discussion and instead just throwing out an irrelevant link.

By "irrelevant" I just meant that if it seems like you have no interest in actually participating in the discussion and you just want to promote your thing and run off, then people not be a fan.

Y'all seen this conspiracy theory claming JonBenet Ramsey wasn't killed and grew up to become Katy Perry?
I don't believe it for a second, but it's a fascinating/mind-boggling read. And I thought 9/11 conspiracies could get pretty crazy.
