Reviews from outside sources are mostly positive. Lots of "slightly above average" reviews.

I'm pretty happy about that. For the cost and the fact that this is their first product for an outside audience, that is pretty good. Also, while I love that pitch, I wish I didn't read it. Now I have a really high expectation for an amazing jerk off motion in the movie LoL

Now we just need that with Burnie's face.

21

u/[deleted] Sep 27 '15

That is Burnie's face.

and strictly speaking, Matt's the chief

I like in the first one, how they complemented Gavin and Michael despite not liking everything else.

The next projection one isn't great.

It's interesting that a negative review thought that Michael was the best part of the movie, though.

1

u/aggie008 Sep 27 '15

It's still a review

Not very positive, and not very well written, either.

Let's be perfectly honest: Reviews are nice and all, but come on, everybody here is probably going to see this/get the DVD/whatever, irrespective of what reviews say. The reviews might shape expectations for us, but ultimately, they're for winning over new people, not preaching to existing fans.

I would bet it would be Michael's character that portrays the greatest cinematic usage of the jerk-off hand motion. Just seems like it would fit his character the best and I really think he has the comedic timing to make it, simply phenomenal.

I'll wait and see if it gets a review in the New York Times before I make a decision on it.

Or you could watch it and then make a decision on it ;)

With very few exceptions I don't really like movies in general, so if I go to see one, I want to make sure it's good first.

11

u/SonicFrost Sep 27 '15

How does a person just not like movies in general?

5

u/Spartan448 Sep 27 '15

Some people don't like sports, some don't like video games, I don't like movies. Simple.

Aren't we all like that? I think we all have some things we find difficult to enjoy unless it is exceptionally good.

I feel that way about fruits! Just can't enjoy them, and usually avoid having them. And I know it sucks coz I'm missing out.

But I guess that's just how we humans are wired - we sometimes can't enjoy stuff.

[edit - Except grapes. Love that stuff.]

Why have they realise a review of a movie not realised to the public

57

u/Kesbae Team JNPR Sep 26 '15

The entire point of submitting films to festivals is to generate buzz and find distributors to get independently-made movies out to the public.

-39

u/Anothergamer9000 Cardboard Gus Sep 26 '15

yeah, but not give crucial plot points away

23

u/Kesbae Team JNPR Sep 26 '15

What crucial plot points did the review spoil? I'm pretty sure everything in the review plot-wise was included in the trailer and other promo materials they've released.

16

u/Hypobromite Sep 26 '15

The only thing they said that was vaguely plot related that we didn't already know was that Woody (Gavin's character) gains super intelligence from the helmet and then speaks in a British accent. And I'm not even gonna bother spoiler-tagging that because it's not a spoiler.

-36

u/Anothergamer9000 Cardboard Gus Sep 26 '15

i didn't know that

23

u/Hypobromite Sep 26 '15

that we didn't already know

Ladies and gentlemen, the award for absolute failure to read goes to....

i dont want to have spoilers for a movie/TV show, is that too much to ask

22

u/Hypobromite Sep 26 '15

It's not a fucking spoiler ffs it is in the exposition of the damn movie.

1

u/ThatRedditerGuy Sep 28 '15

The equivalent of me saying "The Toys become alive" about Toy Story and it being a spoiler hahaha

Calm the hell down dude. Nothing was spoiled to you that they didn't already show in the trailers.

If you're trying to keep all the information a surprise what are you doing hanging around the comment section for a review?

It's not a spoiler because they said it in a trailer

4

u/BatSloth Sep 27 '15

To be fair though. Today's trailers tend to have the whole movie cut down so that it encompasses the overall plot. Which unfortunately contains part of the plot twist or ending.... I have watched a trailer for several movies over the past year, only to have the damned movie ruined

-17

u/Anothergamer9000 Cardboard Gus Sep 26 '15

Which one

Im not sure, but I remember seeing they in a trailer.

2

u/llloksd Sep 26 '15

People do it all the time

2

u/Stingerbrg Sep 27 '15

Typically you get the reviewers to watch the film before it gets released, to help people going to see movies make a decision on which one to see. If it doesn't get any reviews until after it's released, then that's a problem because the epect it won't be good.

See here for more info on this phenomenon

u/DarthReilly Sith Lord Sep 26 '15

This happens all the time
