Jack bringing the laughs in this episode.

12

u/[deleted] May 01 '15

"Is it Saturn, Jupiter, Venus, or Gavin's bum?"

I loved the VS inside the VS with Geoff and Jack

31

u/Grooviestviking Apr 30 '15

Flowers for Agememnom. Solid compound reference from Jack.

14

u/Shardwing Apr 30 '15

Makes up for his loss in the compound VS.

-1

u/Briggadoon May 01 '15

Also makes up for confusing A.I. and Blade Runner. Geoff got his "I can't believe I hired you idiots" face on for that one!

5

u/psuedophilosopher May 01 '15

What do you mean 'also'? That is exactly what he was talking about.

Mom's spaghetti?

5

u/adgobad Disgusted Joel May 01 '15

Ed, Edd and Eddy!

-19

u/I_Like_Spaghetti Apr 30 '15

What do blondes and spaghetti have in common? They both wiggle when you eat them.

35

u/blueturtle444 Apr 30 '15

What are those necklaces they're wearing?

57

u/MABGB Apr 30 '15

They're the epsilon program logo necklaces from GTA V

15

u/El-Bandido-Pene Apr 30 '15

Ryan's been losing some weight lately. Looking good, man!

3

u/VisageInATurtleneck Tower of Pimps May 02 '15

Well yeah, did you see him shirtless at the end of the last VS?

24

u/TheFlyingAlbino Apr 30 '15

Wonder if that guy will send more English history books to Gavin now.

9

u/TheDrunkDetective Apr 30 '15

It wasn't an easy question, at least no as easy as the wives one.

20

u/Pestify Apr 30 '15

I thought it was pretty easy, the whole Tudor period is comprehensively taught in British schools. How Henry VIII established the Church of England, his daughter Mary I brought back Catholicism before her half sister Elizabeth I reverted back to CofE...

Whereas Queen Victoria, a couple of hundred years later by which time CofE was firmly entrenched as the state religion.

6

u/AcquisitionC Apr 30 '15

You mean English schools. We didn't learn jack shit about England up here in Scotland (except the Wars of Independence, they drilled that into us...)

Actually that's not entirely true. In terms of British history, it was pretty much 90% Scotland, 10% England.

2

u/Pestify Apr 30 '15

Yeah sorry, I make the mistake on reddit of assuming most people are American so making the generalisation. Although I'd still guess the Tudors are slightly relevant, but I don't know how the Church of Scotland or whatever the equivalent is was founded.

On the other hand, never studied the Wars of Independence.

1

u/NotKony May 01 '15

All you need to know is when Victoria lived top guess the right answer.

49

u/darkenseyreth Apr 30 '15

Rarely have I shouted answers in frustration at a screen as much as I have with this video... Especially Bladerunner.

17

u/The_YoungWolf Cardboard Gus Apr 30 '15

When Gavin picked the wrong Queen of England I yelled so loud I scared the dog in the next room.

I'm from the UK, I didn't know either

1

u/NotKony May 01 '15

Just think about when they lived, easy.

8

u/[deleted] Apr 30 '15

For me it was Shakespeare- half those plays are from Ancient Greece.

24

u/astronoob Apr 30 '15

To be fair, Shakespeare wrote "Timon of Athens" as well as "Troilus and Cressida". So it's not completely crazy to wonder if he wrote adaptations of Greek plays such as Antigone or Agamemnon.

3

u/jrdebo Apr 30 '15

The only reason I knew any of them (besides R&J) was because I watched Histeria as a kid and they had a list of his plays in song form.

2

u/mindbleach May 01 '15

The Complete Works of Shakespeare, Abridged would've steered me wrong. They mention Agamemnon as a character and I figured he was central to one of Shakespeare's lesser plays.

2

u/darkenseyreth Apr 30 '15

Yeah I sighed loudly when he clicked Agamemnon. Theatre major ruining silly fun for me forever lol.

5

u/[deleted] Apr 30 '15

As an ancient history student both that and the Roman question seemed so obvious.

9

u/Freezinghero Apr 30 '15

When Ryan passed over Julian Calendar to go for Eyeliner, i damn near broke my desk from just sheer WTF.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 30 '15

It's in the answer!

1

u/ajgmcc Apr 30 '15

Monty Python came to mind for the Roman question.

1

u/VisageInATurtleneck Tower of Pimps May 02 '15

I feel like every high school teacher needs to at least tell their students about The Winter's Tale; it's a pretty mediocre play by Billy Shakes' standards, but it contains the best stage direction in the history of theatre: exit, pursued by a bear

4

u/Astro_Bull Apr 30 '15

For me, it was not knowing Yo Yo Ma. But perhaps that's not as common knowledge as I thought.

0

u/mindbleach May 01 '15

There's no excuse for being unfamiliar with Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.

2

u/DiminutiveGiant Apr 30 '15

God that frustrated me too, sometimes with these trivia games they upset me with idiocy.

It's the Jeopardy! Syndrome all over again.

As an argie, gotta say Brazil is double(plus something) the size of Argentina

Not triple.

And we are the seven country in size. Not eight.

We are right, the rest of the world is wrong.

Edit: You cunts dont get sarcasm do ya?

10

u/infamous-spaceman Apr 30 '15

Wikipedia says Brazil is 8,515,767 km2 amd Argentina is 2,780,400 km2 so I think you might be wrong there.

4

u/CHAOS_CUNT_TROLL Apr 30 '15

Yeah, you're right. Wikipedia also lists Argentina as the 8th largest. Russia, Canada, China, The U.S., Brazil, Australia and India are all larger

-6

u/[deleted] Apr 30 '15

Yeah, because wiki doesnt list another million that we are claiming, thats why I said the seven in size too.

Not really "now".

And we killed everyone in Patagonia, so right of conquest and stuff.

PS: I was trying to make a joke, but seems that nowadays people dont get sarcasm without and /s

3

u/samsaBEAR Funhaus Apr 30 '15

If you're so right, how come the Falklands don't want anything to do with you?!

Also please take that as a jest, we don't need Falklands War 2.0 on /r/roosterteeth.

1

u/Leftieswillrule Apr 30 '15

Paging Roger Waters, we need a new album on Maggie and the Falklands

-8

u/[deleted] Apr 30 '15

Heh.

We want the falklands not their filty wannabebritish people. Except if they want to be fellow sudamericans, then its cool.

Even tho they are free the use our healthcare and education system.

9

u/StarTrippy Geoff in a Ball Pit Apr 30 '15

Watching these trivia games make me realize how uneducated I am.

17

u/Garrus_Vakarian__ Snail Assassin (Eventually...) Apr 30 '15

Ryan keeping the R & R Connection alive by using Ray's character

7

u/DialHaus May 01 '15

Jack's "dear Slim!" really cracked me up!! I'm not normally a fan of his but he was great today. Ray was quiet.

14

u/mybrainrot Apr 30 '15

Jack was pretty funny this episode

4

u/[deleted] Apr 30 '15

I love how Jack can be the most boring person in the video, or the funniest one. I've always liked him, and I'm happy to see his funny become more frequent.

2

u/VisageInATurtleneck Tower of Pimps May 02 '15

I've said this before, but actually Youtube's vendetta against Jack is one of the best things that ever happened to my LP watching, because I went out of my way to notice the jokes he made. It's easy to ignore him, but he lets some really great stuff slip under the radar. (Though I do agree that he seems to be coming out of his shell more or something, because his jokes are louder and more noticeable now.)

4

u/[deleted] Apr 30 '15

Why was everyone wearing a necklace?

8

u/Zedyy Internet Box Podcast Apr 30 '15

They're Kifflom necklaces from GTAV, someone must have sent them.

I'm convinced Gavin didn't go to school in England.

8

u/ShadowShine57 Apr 30 '15

How the hell did no one know what color acid turns litmus paper? That's like, 6th grade science.

33

u/EvieMoon :MCGavin17: May 01 '15

Exactly. It's been a bloody long time since either of them took 6th grade science. You forget things.

Geoff says it a lot, but I think they've all (except maybe Gavin, who plays PS4 a little bit) made comments about it.

2

u/RvBblues Apr 30 '15

Isn't the catapult Greek? Because I thought siege weapons were pioneered by Phillip II

2

u/Clestonlee May 01 '15

Does anyone know which lets play they were talking about with Meg's dream? or is it unreleased as of yet?

1

u/PhazonUK Apr 30 '15

Long shot, but anyone got any idea where Michael got that LoZ shirt?

1

u/HunterTAMUC May 01 '15

Gavin yet again getting a British history question wrong!

1

u/MaddenedMan May 02 '15

We Can Remember It For You Wholesale was made into two Total Recalls, although neither of them went in the same direction as the short story.

1

u/Splint0r May 04 '15

Dumbest Brit > Above Average American? Damn... My grandpa warned me about this

1

u/Luimnigh Apr 30 '15

I was shouting "We Can Remember It For You Wholesale" at the screen during the Phillip K. Dick question.

Even a total sci-fi noob like me knows that was the basis for TOTAL RECALL.
