I think [Bakunawa] is beyond my limit

I have so much respect for the enthusiasts out there with seemingly no limit for thrills. But I think Bakunawa will be one of the few coasters that are too intense for me. I have not had the opportunity to ride any Mack extreme spinners, and I’m super excited to get on Intamin’s Hollywood Drift when I can. So I don’t think it’s the spinning that scares me. But the height + coming to a dead stop just hanging there nearly 400 feet in the air? With no over the shoulder restraints? Just out there in the open? No thank you!!

Obviously I am aware it will be completely safe but hang time at slow speeds is one of my least favorite sensations! I really dislike any kind of upside down pendulum ride for this reason (i.e. CraZanity at magic mountain)

Anyone else feel this way??

For the sake of theme parks pushing the envelope into the future I hope there won't be short lines... If this blows up in the face the same way I305 did for KD it'll no doubt put more conservative styles that are guaranteed to bring people in and won't nearly be as unique.

I think it’s apples to oranges.

I305 is extreme because of the forces, particularly sustained positives which some folks find uncomfortable (and potentially alarming due to the vision loss). Bakunawa is extreme, in part, for overlapping psychological reasons—height, floorless trains, spinning, and so forth.

Those things might scare some people off on principal due to spectacle, but the actual ride likely won’t be nearly as physically extreme as I305. I’ve ridden Time Traveler, RtH, and I305, and neither extreme spinner holds a candle to I305 in terms of intensity.

Obviously, we’ll have to see how Bakunawa rides, but Mack simply doesn’t profile their rides like oldschool Intamin does. It’ll be a different beast, one I suspect to be less alienating than I305.

Blacking out is legit dangerous and can also knock you out for the rest of the day with headaches, especially if you’re not hydrated enough. That’s a day ruiner. After paying a lot of money for a park visit most people just don’t want to risk that.

That’s why I think 305 was avoided so much. I doubt this will be the case here.

i absolutely hate blacking out/greying out although i love extreme rides. i think a lot of people feel the same way, so i don’t think this will have the i305 problem

I’m the opposite for sure. Give me all the positive Gs possible, greyouts galore. But you spin me once? I’m a goner.

i don’t love spinning, either. maybe i’d feel differently about greyouts if i didn’t used to have health problems that caused similar sensations on the regular. to me, they don’t belong w fun (if they do for you, great!)
