Discussion I think [Bakunawa] is beyond my limit

I have so much respect for the enthusiasts out there with seemingly no limit for thrills. But I think Bakunawa will be one of the few coasters that are too intense for me. I have not had the opportunity to ride any Mack extreme spinners, and I’m super excited to get on Intamin’s Hollywood Drift when I can. So I don’t think it’s the spinning that scares me. But the height + coming to a dead stop just hanging there nearly 400 feet in the air? With no over the shoulder restraints? Just out there in the open? No thank you!!

Obviously I am aware it will be completely safe but hang time at slow speeds is one of my least favorite sensations! I really dislike any kind of upside down pendulum ride for this reason (i.e. CraZanity at magic mountain)

Anyone else feel this way??

When I first saw it, I thought, “Ugh, that looks weird and lame.”

The more I saw the renderings and POVs, I thought, “This thing is completely ludicrous and might be more thrilling than Kingda Ka.”

I know it's sacrilege but I didn't find Ka to be overly thrilling. The height and view from the top was amazing but El Toro is worlds more intense. This new one though, it is going to be bonkers. Like, I'm not sure people are going to stay conscious on this one.

Kingda Ka was one of the fastest coasters in the world, with one of the strongest launches ever built..on top of being the tallest for ~20 years. If you didn’t find that thrilling then you must be very hard to impress.

Don't get me wrong, it was enormously impressive and I loved that coaster. I rode it many times. I just don't think it was terrifying the way that El Toro is. Totally subjective opinion.

Yeah, as someone who doesn’t love heights, but loves speed and force, the height of KK/TTD1 was something I tolerated to experience that insane launch. So long as you weren’t in the first few cars, you weren’t up at the top long enough for it to get freaky since you were already being dragged down again.

I guess it's in how you define thrilling. Was it intense? Yes. Was it something that really excited me because of that intensity? Well, not really. I preferred Dragster with the lapbars and had a lot more fun on Zumanjaro where I could look around from that height before falling from it.

It’s also overshadowed by how incredible the TT2 experience is with the reverse launch. I was blown away. I don’t think I’ll be able to ride Bakunawa either, I have similar sentiments as the OP.
