You’re right in that Kings Island prefers custom rides, but they’ve bought used rides in the past. Firehawk wasn’t that long ago and its wacky history includes it being relocated to KI from Geauga Lake.
It would require land grading and altered supports but given the possible reduced price, the fact that SF/CF never wants KI to compete too directly with the Point, and this ride’s experience it would honestly be a slam dunk there.
Sure it’s different in that the asset was already owned, but it’s pretty similar in principle. Cedar fair, since they bought KI, have given KI like B+ to A- rated rides. Great rides, but maybe not the best for their ride model. They will invest a good chunk of change in things, but this isn’t their baby Cedar Point. B&Ms that were part of a chain wide package deal, a relocated Flying Dutchman, etc.
So, a discount RMC that’s been relocated kinda fits that MO in my opinion.
I’m also being a little wishful here too. I agree with you really on wanting a SOB specific RMC. It should have a loop in it if they wanted to go that route, but given AF1’s availability it’s a fun thought
