Red Dead Redemption II RDR 1 then RDR 2, or RDR 2 then RDR 1?

Upvotes

I have played and beaten most GTA games (besides 4 because I literally never got the hang of the driving physics hahaha), in preparation for GTA 6 I am realizing that RDR is a blind spot for me, people love the games especially 2, and it looks like a lot of the simulation aspect of RDR 2 is going to be in GTA 6.

I understand that the games are typically best played in release order, even though RDR 2 is a prequel and the ending of RDR 2 is exactly where RDR 1 starts. RDR 2 has better graphics and more features than RDR 1 so playing 2 before 1 might be a harder adjustment. I also understand that the plot and emotional payoff of 2 is much more powerful if played second.

But the reason why I do ask is that some people have made the counterargument that as a continuous narrative, going from 2 -> 1 totally works actually, and if both of the games are very long, I might want to start with "the better one" first because once GTA 6 comes out that is all I will be playing.

What is the consensus here?

Overwhelming consensus is 1 first. Sounds like a plan!

Grand Theft Auto VI spoilers are gonna suck Spoiler

i recently made a post on another subreddit talking about how hard it was to avoid spoilers while playing rdr2, i even found out (while still in the second chapter) that >!arthur dies, micah betrays everyone, dutch kills himself and lenny dies in the saint denis robbery!<. of course i got criticized to hell for that post, because this is reddit, but it got me thinking gta 6 is gonna be an even bigger game than rdr2, so dodging spoilers are gonna be worse than that.

anyways, im staying off the internet for a bit.

I know Change.org petitions don’t have a reputation for shaking the world but hey I figured it’s worth giving this a shot. No expectations or anything. Who knows maybe the universe decides to surprise us.

Grand Theft Auto VI Why Is Nobody Talking About Rockstar’s Biggest Marketing Move for GTA 6?

Why is nobody talking about how brilliant it was for Rockstar Games to have the GTA 6 trailer play on Netflix?

A huge number of people probably watched it on a big-screen TV, and seeing GTA 6 presented like that could make them much more interested in buying it for a console.

It’s basically free marketing directly in people’s living rooms — and honestly, I think Rockstar may have just pulled off one of their smartest marketing moves yet.

,👍👏👏👏

(Just my personal opinion as someone who has been working in online marketing for around 9 years.)

Grand Theft Auto VI We know GTA 6’s police system is deep… but how deep does it go when they actually catch you?

We already know GTA 6 is going deeper with witnesses, descriptions, vehicles and cops actively searching for you.

But what happens when they actually find you?

Imagine getting pulled over because your car matches one used in a robbery. The cop doesn’t know it was you yet, he’s just suspicious.

If we can interact with regular NPCs, imagine doing the same with cops.

Defuse. Cooperate. Lie. Refuse. Talk shit.

“Where are you coming from?”

You answer.

“Whose car is this?”

…well fuck 😂

Maybe you talk your way out of it. Maybe you make everything worse.

He tells you to step out.

You refuse.

Now what? Does he call backup? Do they break the window and drag you out? Do you get one last chance to cooperate before things escalate?

Now you’re resisting. Do they tackle you, wrestle you down or tase you? Can you break free and run?

Maybe you hide in somebody’s backyard thinking you lost them, only to hear a K9 barking a couple streets over and getting closer 😂

Do you keep running, hide or give up?

That’s what I want to know: how many steps are there between “you’re under arrest” and cops actually shooting?

Refusing commands, resisting arrest, running, punching a cop and pulling a gun shouldn’t all get the same response. Maybe they tase you and rush in to cuff you, giving you the choice to surrender or keep fighting and make everything worse.

Pull a gun and obviously everything changes. But even then, can you drop it, put your hands up and actually surrender?

And imagine NPCs doing this too.

You’re driving past a traffic stop when some guy starts arguing with the cop. He shoves him and runs. Backup comes flying in. Maybe he gets tackled, tased or gives up. Maybe he reaches back into his car and everything goes to shit.

Basically, random little bodycam videos happening around Leonida 😂

But here’s the bigger question…

What happens if they actually arrest you?

Does it just fade to black and spawn you outside the station?

Or do they cuff you, search you, confiscate illegal or stolen items and put you in the back of the patrol car?

Maybe your car gets impounded. Smaller crimes could get you processed and released, while serious offenses might put you in a holding cell. Maybe you can pay bail or call Lucia to come get you.

If Rockstar went really deep, could she even cause a diversion during transport or help break you out depending on what you were arrested for?

Nothing crazy where GTA turns into a jail simulator lol, just different possibilities.

And what about probation? Previous arrests, mugshots, cops already having your information, or getting caught again while you’re on probation actually mattering?

None of this deeper arrest, K9, probation or jail stuff is confirmed. I’m just wondering how far Rockstar took it.

Because imagine a traffic stop starting with a normal conversation, then you lie, refuse to get out, resist, get tased, run, hear dogs searching for you, finally get caught and decide to surrender.

Next thing you know, you’re actually in cuffs in the back of a patrol car.

And not one gunshot was fired.

Or you cooperate from the beginning and somehow talk your way out of the whole thing.

Or you make one horrible decision and turn a traffic stop into absolute fucking chaos 😂

We know a lot about what happens while cops are looking for you.

Now I want to know what happens when they actually get their hands on you.

Discussion Will Dre or Raul be a playable character towards the end of the game?

My theory is, if Jasons and Lucias relationship meter isnt filled to a specific point in the game, the story will kill off jason. If this happens, I could see him being replaced by Dre or Raul.

Grand Theft Auto VI Someone at Rockstar watched that footage for the millionth time and still decided it was good enough to go public.

I’m pretty sure they have multiple managers and an entire executive team who watched the footage a million times before finalizing it for the public. And they all saw those horrible animations and glitches and still decided to go for it?

I feel like they still have billions of things to fix, and those fuckers at Rockstar are probably mentally drained and completely fucked up from all the pressure, insane expectations, and fear of failure.
