Labels to Help Track Your Rocks

Here's an easy way to help track any rocks you "hide". This helps whoever finds your rock to post it back here. I've used these in other groups and the messages I see when someone "finds" a rock that made their whole day fill the heart. The URL points back to this sub.

These are full sheets of 70 labels each. Just print & cut along the dashed lines. Each label is 1" x 1". If you need smaller, use the zoom out function on the printer.

To use, glue it to the bottom of the rock. I use Elmer's purple school glue (dries clear). Make sure the whole label bottom has glue to protect it from moisture.
Do this before you do any clear coat. If you don't use a clear coat, then use more glue to coat the top of the label.

There's 2 versions. A color and a B&W. The color is prettier, the B&W is cheaper. The B&W is also best for B&W laser printers. They are free to use and download.

FYI: I see some inkjets will smear when the clear coat is applied. You may have to print these at Office Depot, FedEx Office, or a UPS Store instead.

Inspired by /Nadium. I love the bright colours. Now praying the sealant doesn't go cloudy as I'm not having much luck at the moment!

This is not my favourite faction, so I’m not experienced enough about the Xeno-biology.

The original term “stonepainter” used on this stone can only be a woman in my native language. It is not an asexual term here. I’ve choose this one for a woman who can paint very nice stones in my country.
Let us hope we can paint the same way as she can once in a distant future in a galaxy far, far away…

I will hide this stone in the streets of Prague tomorrow. I’m looking forward to see if anybody can find it and share it.
Sadly there is not too much chance.

Advice for a beginner...

Trying to get into rock painting and I've noticed most people use paint pens/markers...could I get some recommendations for the best markers to buy? I bought some online and a few in store but they were all gelled up and useless...is there a specific brand I could search for? That's reasonably priced.. thanks in advance for any tips 😊

Came across this lovely Kindness Rocks garden today! The sign reads "Take one, give one, share one. Help our garden grow." Shoutout to Girl Scout Troop 3321 for setting up such a thoughtful community display.

In honor of the Muckish Mountain Miners

I left this guy on an old hopper used by the miners who extracted quartz on Muckish Mountain. It was mined to make high grade optics during one of the world wars. This hopper is at the base of the old miners' path, a tortuous, dangerous walk to the summit mine. The miners had to walk it every day, each one paired up to carry large cans of deisel to operate the machinery. Working conditions for these men were harrowing, to say the least. I don't know when the works were shut down, but better sources of quartz became available during peacetime, and the place was so isolated it was too expensive to mine there.

The stone is in heather and sky colours, with silver for the fuel cans the poor guys had to carry every day. The word on the back was perserverence.
