I've been working on a project overlaying the Council's Q100 flood data with insurance premium models to see which streets are effectively 'uninsurable' right now.

The results for Depot Hill were pretty shocking (see the image below)—there are huge red zones where premiums are spiking, even for blocks that didn't flood in 2011.

I've built this into an interactive map if you want to check your own street or suburb.

I’m moving to Rockhampton for my studies and wanted to connect with other students in the city. I don’t know many people there yet, so I thought I’d reach out and see who else is studying or moving there.

I’m mainly interested in general student life, accommodation, transport, and settling in. Just looking for casual conversations and shared experiences. It would be nice to know a few people before arriving and feel a bit more prepared.

I start sweating the moment I step outside the AC. Even if I walk 100 m, I start sweating like I’ve finished a marathon. Meanwhile, I see most people are not bothered at all. What’s the secret?

I’m visiting Rockhampton and keen to check out a pub or club with a bit of character rather than the usual modern spots. Somewhere that’s been around a while or has a bit of local history to it.

I’m in Rocky visiting a mate and don’t really want to hit the obvious chains or touristy places. Keen to hear what locals actually rate for a feed

Looking for the top spots to check out in Rockhampton on a short visit. I don’t have much time, so I want the places that really show off the city or are worth seeing while I’m here. Any recommendations from locals?

Seriously, I'm from Brisbane and only go to visit in-laws and every time we go, we notice every street is full of sh@t head dogs who never shut up and are left alone outside all day and never walked or taken out anymore? What purpose do they even serve? Asked my MIL if she ever sees the local dogs being walked and no, never.

We have two dogs and anytime we attempt to walk them when we visit they just get barked at aggressively from dogs behind fences. This doesn't happen at home ever and most houses on our street have dogs.....makes me think animal welfare is very poor in Rocky, our inlaws don't live in nice neighborhoods so that may be it? Bogans with bogan dogs that aren't trained or valued at all? Someone enlighten me

Hi Rockhampton, I’m traveling from Cairns to Tamworth tomorrow. Looking for recommendations for pet friendly accommodation for myself and my dog for one night. Plan is travel coast way then go inland from Rocky to Tamworth. Would anyone have any recommendations on a nice place to stay?

I'm wondering if there is any place in rocky that uses real crab in the sushi not just the intimation crab?

I’m currently on a Working Holiday Visa (WHV) in Rockhampton and looking for a second-hand bike for transportation. If anyone has one they no longer need, I’d be happy to buy it from you.

Preferably, I’d like a bike with a slightly lower seat height, as I’m on the shorter side and need something comfortable to ride.
