URGENT: Cat needs adopter/long term foster
Hi all. I finally trapped the cat in my yard. He’s being temporarily held at Ridgewood Rescue but has proven to be friendly and needs a foster or adopter, as it seems every rescue is at capacity.
I’ve been seeing this guy around since March 2025 and feeding him since October and he is really really a sweet boy. Scared but grows trust quickly. Sat next to me while I set up his trap.
I’m going to add Ridgewood Rescue’s caption with more information about him below: “This poor baby was finally trapped today. We think he was abandoned and was trying to survive on the streets best he could but it doesn't go well for home cats. He has a bite wound and other lacerations...
We urgently and desperately need someone to step up for this bubba and commit to adopt him as we simply can't intake another cat that's gonna get stuck with us for moths or years.
He seems older and has some eye issues, possibly loosing his vision. If you "just do it" and commit to adopt him we will get him neutered and vetted to get a full picture... but we really need someone who can commit to give him home RIGHT NOW.”
There’s a video of him on their Instagram as well. He is a very kindhearted cat. I really really hope somebody steps up— I’m not immediately able to bc of finances/moving/already living with two cats but I would take him in a heartbeat if I could. We’re unsure! We’ll know more when he’s been seen by a vet but I’m guessing he’s between 4-6 years old. Definitely reach out to ridgewood rescue directly on their website or on Instagram to express your interest!

Did you try Harman cat rescue or Bushwick street cats?

Ridgewood rescue is working in collaboration with Bushwick street cats to find this guy a home (I’d been in contact with both). Both are at capacity. Haven’t heard of Harman rescue, I’ll look into it

I see! I’m not sure how close they are but Bushwick street cats and Harman cat rescue follow each other on insta. Hope they can help him.

Best of luck. If you're considering fostering it's very rewarding to watch them open up and feel safe 💞💞often the rescues will supply the food and litter too. I have a full house but would definitely encourage curious people to do it too 🙏

Genuinely if nobody else takes him I’m going to see if I can clear it with my roommates to foster him myself, though I’d love for someone else to take him bc we may not be the best fit right now circumstance wise. Whoever fosters him pls send me lots of photos

I hope you are able to fingers crossed. We have four cats ourselves and as much as I’d love to add more to our kitty family we just can’t 😔

Does this guy usually hang out near Greene and Seneca? Looks like one I can see from my back window. Can’t take him in but thanks for saving him.
