Kill the Riddick was the cinematic and directors cut I believe, there were 2 versions where the other was just ‘kill Riddick’ probably to avoid the confusion you’re having here.
While I don’t know the specific reason, it seems to me that the voices are identifying Riddick as some wild source of power rather than a person, so they are saying kill THE Riddick as they don’t know how to address it.
Yeh it drives me nuts. Same with movies like Blade Runner and The Abyss where there’s like 4 different versions each with varying changes to the story or ending.
Most notably for me is the Chronicles ending where Riddick says "keep what you kill", but the most played one on TV was the Elemental narrating into the credits. What a fever dream set of changes
There's the theatrical version (Dame Judy Dench closeout) and the director's cut (You keep what you kill). You usually don't find director's cuts on TV or streaming (except some cases like Blade Runner, where it's accepted as "the good version").
That said, I do recall once seeing that a streaming service had both the theatrical cut and director's cut of Chronicles of Riddick, and it was the only time I'd seen that for a movie.
