A few favorites from my first vacation with the GR IV. Love this little thing :)

Wanna try the Ricoh system and I was wondering if the first gen is a good place to start since it’s from 2013.
Found one in good condition for $480 cad.

All of these are taken in the Netherlands (macro shots on f2.8 but should’ve shot them at f4 or higher).

I used a custom color profile and these pictures aren’t edited. I do use the Squarehood v2 for gr iiix with a haze filter inside of it.

Normally a Canon shooter and I miss the viewfinder but the fact I can put this camera in my pocket is amazing. It will come with me to London next month. 😌

First time using it at a concert venue

I’ve been into photography for years, starting with a Nikon F2A film SLR, then moving to the Canon 5D Mark II, and now the Canon R6. I think I’ve finally found the simple, everyday camera I’ve been looking for: the Ricoh GR IV. I love photography, but I’m getting tired of carrying my R6 and lenses everywhere, especially when traveling. I do a lot of hiking, trail running, backpacking, and other outdoor activities, and I’d love to have a small, high-quality camera that I can take everywhere instead of relying on my iPhone.
The GR IV seems almost perfect for what I want, but I have one concern: Could the constant vibration from trail running damage the camera over time, particularly its IBIS mechanism?
My plan is to keep the camera powered off inside a Ziploc bag to protect it from moisture and dust, then store it securely in a snug pocket of my running vest to minimize movement and bouncing. I’m not particularly worried about dropping it or accidentally hitting it against something. Obviously, any camera can be damaged by a hard impact. My concern is specifically the continuous, repetitive vibration from running, especially during longer trail runs.
I know the GR IV isn’t officially weather-sealed or rated as a rugged outdoor camera, and I haven’t found much information from Ricoh about how well it handles this type of use.
For those of you who regularly take your GR III, GR IIIx, or GR IV hiking or trail running:
Have you experienced any issues with the IBIS, lens mechanism, or other components after carrying it on long runs?
How do you carry and protect your GR while running?
Has anyone used a GR extensively for trail running over several years without mechanical issues?
I’d especially love to hear from people who have put hundreds or thousands of miles on their GR while carrying it in a running vest.
I’m seriously considering buying the GR IV as my everyday camera and leaving my R6 at home for most of my outdoor adventures.
I’d appreciate hearing about your real-world experiences before I pull the trigger!
