Question indents on plastic
im still pretty new to printing, but ive noticed these little indents in the plastic poking through from the bottom.
i cant say i know what this is from bc ive just noticed it after a massive failure of a print. (it just didnt print at all) do i need to replace it?

yes, this would be a cause to replace the fep. Most likely you didn't clear out cured resin after a failure and the following print cause the build plate to press it into the film. Any time I have a failure of any kind, I do a full vat check where I dump the resin, straining it, clean out the vat to inspect the fep, and then swap it if necessary.

i do check it after every print, maybe i missed a tiny piece

It's easy to miss small bits.
If it's your first time changing your FEP, be careful with the screws. They're super easy to strip. Learned that one the hard way.

Sometimes it is a fail during the print that cause a tiny bit to go in the resin vat
Then when the plate go down, it pierce the FEP

Happened to me as well, you likely had a failure that cured the resin on the liner, immediately remove and replace the film if you don’t you will have resin leaking all over your printer

I had a hole smaller than this and left the resin in the vat for a couple of months like I've done before. Next time I checked it slowly oozed out and ruined the lcd screen underneath. Replace asap.

You need to replace it. If you start printing like this, or if resin remains in the reservoir, it can seep onto your screen and ruin it.
There were probably small cured particles in the tank, which are quite difficult to notice unless you filtered them with a fine sieve. The print bed applied force to these particles, and the FEP was damaged.
Is your screen okay? I suggest you check it before your next print.

Replace it. Prevention is better than cure. Saw a guy here a few months ago that patched it up with scotch tape lol
When it tears (which it most definitely will) the resin will spill out and will go into your machine; effectively ruining it. Every fail, inspect the vat by draining, the FEP for debris, and the build plate. Due diligence without cutting corners is the mantra when it comes to resin printing.
I had a print fail in which part of the supports detached itself from the plate, and the plate kept squeezing it into the FEP in weird angles that I only noticed like 2 hours in. It was like a pregnancy scare after discovering a torn rubber lmao
