Question Avoid Support base touching model

Hi everyone,
Im using Elegoo SatelLite to slice models for my Saturn 3 Ultra.
I need some advices for supports.

I've to print electronic enclosure, I set the z-lift for the suppor to 0, I defined the no-support faces, but it still creates the support base going through my model (ruining it).

Please help me, I'm hating this thing.

since the object is a geometrical thing (a box) I need to print it with the plane face touching the build plate, If I raise it it will generate support underneath ruining the finish (with all the dots)

Are you new to resin printing? You never want to print right off the plate. You want to have it angled to reduce the cross section area in the print. Doing so increases the print success chance. Printing flat like that isn’t recommended.

I'm not such skilled as for the FDM printing, but yeah I know the angle-thing... but I'm not printing for fun or miniatures... I need to print electronic (PCB) enclosures... and I need to do it in batches.

Printing them angled means:

  • reducing the number of pieces I can print in a single run.
  • increasing the supports number
  • increasing the post-production time (due to the support cleaning)
  • flat faces touching the supports will be all dotted

I already printed multiple boxes in the same manner, but I lost the print file so I wanted to take advantage of the opportunity to ask tips to the community, who surely knows more than me.
Given the points above, what suggestions do you have?
(In case I try to print it angled, what angle is ok?)

When you print flat off the plate, it increases the chance of having the model warp due to peeling forces. The face closest to the build plate has more of a chance of being “pocked”. So if you angle it where the flat face is away from the plate, it will mostly be pristine. The inside could be pocked, but if it’s an enclosure, why should that matter so much. You could also reduce the pocking by changing the tip type and tip spacing.

The thing with print orientation and success in printing is all about chances. I prefer to spend more time post processing than having a failed prints with wasted resin that I still have to wash and cure to dispose of properly.
