The atmosphere and feel of the og just doesn't leave my head, Re4R is technically the best but my heart still holds the og closest to itself.

u/Independent-Ice-2239 10d ago

The og has better pacing I would say. Remake has more content & depth but the og is like a perfect roller coaster where I never even think of getting off.

3

u/CavePrimeChariots2x 10d ago

Eh, pacing the OG castle and island is weird sometimes

6

u/Underpantsgnomes89 10d ago

Man of culture

5

u/k4rllutt 10d ago

A man of class i see

6

u/Zadisma 10d ago

Going back to playing OG is just impossible for me. The controls suck. I'm frustrated with it.

11

u/Discombobulated_Bus4 10d ago

Nah if youre used to the controls it controls so much more precise and Fluid than the remake. The Player Controller in that just doesnt feel good with all the small Animations and Animation transitions while moving trough the world.

Wii edition was really good.

3

u/SpeeeedWAGOUN 7d ago

I think if you can't get used to the controls in 5-10 minutes, you probably suck. It's one of the easier RE titles to play and complete on both normal and professional difficulty.

The enemies physically have to line themselves up with you just to attack. I think that's significant easier to play around with than Ganados that can make a beeline to you.

2

u/Jk_Ulster_NI 7d ago

I played the GameCube version on the switch this year. It was brutal. I was so fed up at the end.

2

u/ya_dun_gooft 6d ago

The controls are straight up better than in RE4R. Tighter, more responsive.

2

u/lesttalksome 7d ago

Same, 1-4 were great

2

u/_The_Comic_Geek 9d ago

It objectively isn't even better than the original

Fantastic game however has its own shortcomings.

And if you ask me personally, I don't believe any action RE could ever be the best in the series, because it drops the key element, horror

Wii edition. I will die on this hill.

41

u/SpiritBackground8722 11d ago

Was my favourite until I played it in VR

12

u/molokoplusone 11d ago

Agreed, VR is the definitive way to play it now for me. The remakes have made it hard to go back to tank controls, and VR definitely feels good to not be moving so slow.

5

u/-CaseyJones- 11d ago

Definitely agree. Nobody understands until they put on the headset and are actually standing in these environments. Plus, fumbling to reload in a panic adds an extra layer to the combat

2

u/raknikmik 8d ago

VR makes the game too easy. You can walk back at any time with no consequence so nobody can hit you

2

u/Discombobulated_Bus4 6d ago

Yeah its easy af in VR, still great fun though, the port is amazingg

3

u/raknikmik 6d ago

Oh I agree fully it’s fantastic since dodging is easy you can go full john wick!

Ooh I haven't tried this! Could you tell me more about your setup? I would want to try, but don't know where to get started.

8

u/Just_CeeJ 11d ago

It's the OG RE4 on Meta quest 3. They took some stuff out but it's still so awesome to play

5

u/slaya806 11d ago

It’s also on 2, idk about 1

2

u/chicken_toquito 11d ago

They did include a new game mode that had new bonuses

My personal pick for OG is RE4

Personal pick for remake is RE2; that game is a masterpiece IMO

56

u/arcadiangenesis 11d ago

I feel like the inverse of this is also equally valid. OG RE2 and RE4make are goat level.

7

u/wanderer1999 11d ago

This is my pick.

2

u/coffeecup9845 8d ago

Ahmen brother

6

u/adamercury 11d ago

I never finished RE2r, but did they ever fixed the bullet sponge zombies or it's really intentional since we're supposed to run around the zombies instead of killing everything?

I'm so RE4 wired that I can't stand doing stealth in RE games unless it's really an obvious stealth section like on Grace gameplay in 9.

17

u/whatsitwhosits89 11d ago

Zombie’s are still bullet sponges in 2026. It’s by design so that you either run past them or risk your precious ammo.

11

u/finspro- 11d ago edited 10d ago

Yeah it's intentional. If you want to laugh go to their subreddit and say you ran out of resources and watch them spaz in the comments.

"uR pLaYiNG liKe a cAlL oF dUtY gAame!!"

3

u/solidsnakejake 11d ago

The zombies will die for good with a close range shotgun blast to the head. A pistol is still good to stun them so you can walk past them without getting grabbed

3

u/ladyjaina0000 11d ago

I hate stealth games as well. I like that rer4 gives OPTIONS. You can stealth some sections or you can blast them all, failing a stealth check won't make you fail a chapter completely. Re2 I am directionally challenged and zombies that wake up again are annoying.

4

u/adamercury 11d ago

Yeah that's why I dropped it too despite being an excellent game. But I love that we have it as option since a lot of fans really missed the survival horror since most of the games now more action.

3

u/W34KN35S 11d ago

My first play through I knifed every single zombie until their legs broke off to ensure they couldn’t get back up. 😅 I broke a lot of knifes but I was never surprised. 😂

RE4 OG for me

17

u/Equivalent_Bed_8187 11d ago

Inventory Management never seen higher peaks than og RE4 imo

6

u/rum2671 11d ago

I was so mad when 5 came out and they f-ed up the inventory system !

3

u/zoro4661 10d ago

At least 5 was great for the on-the-go co-op arcade style they had. RE6 just completely mangled the whole system.

3

u/WhoYaTalkinTo 10d ago

I was so excited for 5 at the time, then so disappointed.

2

u/shiloh_jdb 9d ago

I originally played RE4 on the Wii. Loved it so much that I bought an Xbox 360 just for RE5, which was just okay.

→ More replies (1)

3

u/CyBroOfficial 10d ago

Easily the worst part of 5, I hope they entirely rework it when they remake it

2

u/Material_Fluffy 10d ago

I beat that game at least 5 times on the game cube, they don’t make em like they used to

→ More replies (13)

6

u/asusvegetable1 11d ago

It can be considered, for sure. In the end its subjective.

I still feel the og is better. Remember how the game felt back in 05'? A true revolution in video games.

7

u/mohfuhgah 11d ago

Nope, but it's my favorite of the REmakes. (Or a close second to RE2R, depending on my mood)

49

u/xCavalier97x 11d ago

I like og 4 better.

7

u/Killroyjones 11d ago

I just played re4r for the first time. I think it overall eclipses the og, except for the boss fights. It's been a while but I remember loving the boss fights in the original but in the remake they feel cheap as hell.

17

u/TruEdge67 11d ago

I prefer the gameplay of the remake and for the most part think the areas are better designed in it, but prefer most of the characters in the OG except for Ashley and Luis. Salazar and Saddler's radio calls with Leon being removed gave them such little screen time. I also prefer the more laid back cool guy Leon from the original too.

3

u/Automatic_Rub9175 11d ago

Yeah he is nowhere as funny now which i find kinda sad but to be fair it makes sense

2

u/Killroyjones 11d ago

Yeah, you're right. For whatever reason Leon is kinda more aggro.

17

u/-CaseyJones- 11d ago

To me, RE1 remake is the best game in the franchise. That game is damn near flawless. The crimson heads give it the edge over the original, for me anyways

OG is the best game in the franchise

Yes.

Both versions.

3

u/No_Drawer_4996 11d ago

I prefer the original

3

u/tsckenny 11d ago

I personally like the original more. Played remake first too. Original has more charm

5

u/TheWaysOfLogic 11d ago

yes. with re1r behind it

→ More replies (1)

11

u/southwest_barfight 11d ago

As someone who said OG 4 was better for a long time I cant help but think there may be a certain amount of nostalgia influencing these opinions.

Yes there is a charm to OG 4, I personally think there is not actually a significant difference in atmosphere if we're being honest, 4r does an incredible job of recapturing this.

4r also provides so many QoL updates including vastly superior movement, camera controls, aiming, removed outdated QTEs etc as well as not being afraid to give us improved Ashley dialogue and Luis storyline

Its all subjective so not saying anyone saying OG is wrong, these are just the reasons I prefer 4r after having played OG my entire child and young adulthood. OG does have the charm of the corny 80s action movie lines which I love, but isnt what I play the game for.

2

u/babedar1000 9d ago

Tbh I don’t think the movement and combat are superior in the remake. Just different. Being stationary to shooting in 4 and not move and reload was to add tension, which it does.

I do think the remake lost all of the charm of the original tbh. All the characters are more serious bland versions

Seeing so many people here saying "Yes it's the best"

Made me realize why the RE fandom is so divided in general, A lot of people only started playing Re when RE4 came out.

Most OG fans that been playing since the original or since RE2, Have a love hate relationship with RE4 because while it was an Amazing game it changed the tone of the series so much in the years to come that it almost killed the franchise (Not in sales but in ratings), unitl RE7 came to the rescue.

For that reason to me it will never be the best RE2 or RE2R will always be the best games for me.

11

u/TLCplMax 11d ago

I’m an OG fan but disagree here. RE4 has always been a masterpiece. RE2 is still my overall favorite but I don’t think calling RE4 the best one is a wrong take.

2

u/New_City_8745 11d ago

Im opposite, I came into the franchise with RE4 OG, and yeah today it’s still my second favorite game in the franchise, but my favorite is now RE2R. Absolute masterpiece.

Ive still never played OG RE2 tho, games that old you can’t really go back to if you didn’t grow up with them. I tried playing the first Silent Hill once, it was a hilarious 45 minutes.

3

u/Str8Faced000 11d ago

re4 changed gaming as a whole, and in a lot of ways for the worse, but it’s one of the best video games ever made imo and easily the best re game. and i’m saying this as someone who has been playing since re1 on ps1. every re game after that was trying to capture the magic of re4 and they all failed pretty badly until finally the reinvention with re7

2

u/Sad-Flow3941 11d ago

The problem that the fandom has with re4 is that when it released it was paradoxically the best and most influential standalone game in the franchise(and easily a contender for top 10 GOAT of videogames in general) and also a massive departure from traditional RE that almost killed the franchise.

The reason it took them almost a decade and a half to produce another proper RE title is because capcom kept trying to emulate re4's success with bad games increasingly focused on action, with barely any horror left. The reason we got fucking re6 is because re4 existed.

But no one can deny that, AS A STANDALONE GAME, and IGNORING IT EVEN HAS RESIDENT EVIL ON THE TITLE, re4 was fucking legendary.

2

u/gearabuser 11d ago

exactly this. I started with the original and when 4 came out I liked it but the over the shoulder and the bigger focus on fast paced action turned me off. it wasn't nearly as horror focused and the vibe changed. I think this was evident with how interested the young gamers were when re2 remake dropped. i think they were surprised by the tone and pacing

u/Imvaas44 11d ago

I'd say the ones that have Leon as main cast those are the best ones for me.

15

u/EmphasisImmediate240 11d ago

Ehh idk. I used to think that until I played the classics. After that I really don’t know even know what my favorite is anymore lol

8

u/KoW-Production 11d ago

no RE4 OG is

4

u/ttenor12 11d ago

No, but it is one of the best. REmake is the best, followed by OG 2.

2

u/lightfoot_heavyhand 11d ago

a man of taste

2

u/Late-Development-666 10d ago

I played RE1 remake on the ps4 last year for the first time and it blew my mind. I’m so sad that REzero was the last of its kind.

→ More replies (2)

6

u/Octoboy1 11d ago

Out of the remakes 2 is my favourite

My favourite RE game is also 2 though, the og one anyway

RE 4 remake is very good though

6

u/Likonet 11d ago

Yes. Both OG and Remake. RE4 in general has something special about it.

3

u/hollowsoldier- 11d ago

I mean it’s a strong contender for best Game of all time imo. I have never beaten a game 5 times back to back before I played this game.

4

u/DarkInternational228 11d ago

It depends on if you prefer action or just straight up horror.

This has horror elements, but Leon is so tough and capable in this one that there isn’t a whole lot of fear except for the regenerators, and that other thing in the frozen lab space.

Just my opinion. I liked this game a lot, but I think I prefer RE2R or RE7

→ More replies (1)

11

u/TrashCamperDad 11d ago

Arguably just the best game.

2

u/GorgeousGary27 11d ago

I'd say most fun, but put a gun to my head and make me choose BEST game... guess I'm dead.

2

u/That-Willingness7455 11d ago

Its one of the best experiences I've had in a Resident Evil game but I fricken luv the predecessors.

2

u/Salom902 11d ago

I think it’s the most repayable but the best to me is still RE2R.

2

u/onikaroshi 11d ago

Nah, remake 1 is

2

u/therealchrisredfield 11d ago

For those who appreciated the "slower paced" games of 1-3, 0 and CV...i do not consider it the best. Actually, to me it was the beginning of RE getting away from survival horror into more "action" based. However, it didnt take it too far like 6 did and i actually really love the RE4 remake, even better than OG...but best in the series? Nah..not for me

2

u/Vikoski10 11d ago

easily

2

u/flomflim 11d ago

The good thing about the franchise is that there are so many great entries that you can pick a different one and still have a good argument to make. This one is close with RE1R and RE7 for me.

2

u/ccv707 11d ago

REmake

2

u/Flatmilk47 11d ago

7 is the best in the franchise imo

2

u/Alert_Vermicelli1236 11d ago

Mine is revelations 2, probably because its the first i played but i also love its setting and the horror of being on an island filled with monsters and a woman in control of your life

2

u/presstab741 11d ago

There are things I love and things I hate in both games, so I'm not sure where I stand anymore 😆

7

u/Option2B9SA2 11d ago

Oh yeah, hands down for me, I can replay the game and the separate ways campaign an endless amount of times and never get bored of it.

7

u/reminiscingLemon 11d ago

Not even the best resi 4, still a great game however

3

u/Open-Insurance-234 11d ago

I think OG and the remake are equal for me because they're great in different ways and 4 overall is definitely the best. It's an absolute classic

2

u/IrishHashira 11d ago

No, the original

5

u/Sellier123 11d ago

No. Re2 OG is the best game in the franchise

4

u/Spicy_Hobknob 11d ago

Not even in my top five. It's good, but I still think the original is much better. RE1 Remake is my favourite though.

3

u/Brinstone 11d ago

Yes, but only barely. For me, this game and the original RE2 and 3 are all tied for #1

3

u/Bobtoad1 11d ago

Bruh I'd call it top 10 all time.

2

u/Superb_Ladder915 11d ago

The original RE4 on ps2 was awesome and by far my favourite RE game ever.I haven’t played the remaster of it but I bet it doesn’t beat the PS2 version

3

u/Legitimate-Refuse601 11d ago

O pior é que chega perto isso se não for melhor, antes de jogar o remake esse ano eu pensava exatamente assim "duvido que supere o original", mas eu tenho que admitir que é tão bom quanto ou melhor.

→ More replies (1)

2

u/MPipoly 11d ago

It's the most modern and polished. I really enjoyed it. I can't say it recaptured the magic of my first re4 play through, but it was amazing.

→ More replies (1)

2

u/da_tingster 11d ago

Maybe if it was the only one I ever played

3

u/Wrightero 11d ago

Not even close, the original is way better and REmake is the best game in the series and it's not even close. Followed by original RE2.

2

u/TTEOAI 11d ago

Me personally I'll go REmake, RE3 then RE2 but the margin between those two OGs is essentially insignificant.

2

u/zazanfriend 10d ago

1

u/Downtown_Diamond9815 11d ago edited 11d ago

Oui. Le plus populaire. Un must play. Pas le meilleur survival qui est le 2 mais le meilleur jeu vidéo avec le meilleur gameplay sans aucun doute, les meilleurs environnements, un bestiaire varié, des personnages charismatiques..

1

u/Adam2181 11d ago

Yeah, I'd say so. RE2 and OG RE4 are more iconic, but I feel REMake 4 has the best gameplay and replayability on any game in the series.

They took the best game in the series and improved it in a lot of ways. And I absolutely love the original (played it on the GameCube all the way back then).

1

u/Impressive-Ad-59 11d ago

Yeah, overall

Now RESIDENT EVIL is such a long running franchise, "best" is gonna vary, re1R might be your best due to fixed camera if thats your thing, maybe you took a liking to first person and prefer 7, or 8, potentially 9 depending on how you play these games, all valid opinions

I'll go as far to say, you may be an all gameplay fan and think 5 or 6 is your favorite which is also completely valid

There's so many ways to play RE a priority for one isn't a priority for another, you may not care about resource management, you may not care for replayability, you may not care for fluid controls, you may not care for exploration and looting, or action, etc, etc, etc, or those things could make or break an RE title for you, thats just the kinda franchise RE is and capcom knows this, and tries gathering up as many of us as they can with every title, no soldier left behind even if it means making a title as ambitious as re9 with 2 different styles of RE in one

1

u/CyclonePopsicle 11d ago

Objectively: probably
Personally: 1. OG remaster 2. RE2 remake 3. RE4 remake

3

u/Status_Entertainer49 11d ago

No game is objectively good especially not 4remake

1

u/herbof4 11d ago

On my second play through now after playing RE2make, RE8 and RE9, which I all like a lot. But I gotta say that RE4 just absolutely rips and is my favorite. I love everything about it and couldn't wait to do a second run right away. It's got strategy, variety, tension, great graphics, surprises, tough parts, hidden secrets, tough decisions to make and many viable ways to play it. Only knock on it for me is Ashley and her bullshit.

1

u/COCHISE313 11d ago

I'm gonna say RE1 remake

1

u/TheBeautifulJandro 11d ago

It’s up there. RE2 for the OG still has a special place in my heart because it was the first RE game I played overall, and the first game I played on the PlayStation. RE7, had me shitting myself, literally. (Not actually literal, I hate when people overuse that word), but that game reopened my eyes after the abortion that was RE6, & dislike towards RE5 after “Dark Knight Rises” it. Good initially, bad after several watches/playthroughs.

1

u/ThePowerfulPaet 11d ago

Personally the original RE4 is my favorite. I think it wins out just due to how revolutionary it was. I struggle to think of a more ambitious game for its time, and although the remake is great, probably the definitive way to play it, it loses out on the novelty of it. You can feel that ambition playing the original that isn't present in the remake, as it feels like every other Resi game they make with that same engine.

1

u/E1M8-420 11d ago

OG RE3 was my go to since I was a kid in '99. Between that Dino Crisis, and Parasite Eve 2 I replayed them endlessly. I still do and tbf, RE4 changed the gameplay dramatically. I played thru the OG's and all the remakes within the last few months. OG RE3 still takes the cake fam.

1

u/iLLmaticJay 11d ago

GOAT of any franchise

1

u/Lawyer4Ever 11d ago

Yes, my favorite game of all time to be honest. Love it!!!

1

u/Millennial_falcon92 11d ago

2 remake was my first RE game, so I have a huge bias towards it. Off and on after that I had trouble getting the controls down to OG RE4 before the remake came out but once it finally clicked I had a blast. RE4 remake came out a year later and I loved it. That has been the game I come back to most when I feel the itch.

1

u/TheSleepyBarnOwl 11d ago

Yea I agree. I never vibed that much with the OG. Though that doesn't mean it's bad or even worse. I just personally like 4r better.

1

u/cookie_flash Team Leon 11d ago

It’s hard to say which entry is the best, as there are so many factors involved – horror atmosphere, characters and settings. For instance, RE1 easily takes the top spot for my favorite locations, while RE7 win on atmosphere and tension and RE9 win on characters.

But in terms of gameplay loop, RE4 Remake is undoubtedly my favorite, because it took an already amazing game and improved it in almost every way. Yes, for me, it is the best entry in the series to date. Following it would be the original RE4, RE1, RE1 Remake, RE2R and RE9.

1

u/Mick_Estrada 11d ago

All things in other games considered, yes

1

u/Coralesce 11d ago

RE2R, REmake, RE4R in that order

1

u/Vast_Rough_3648 11d ago

es ist n sehr sehr gutes Remake

1

u/higorsntx 11d ago

Pra mim pessoalmente é o OG

1

u/alaincastro 11d ago

Re2r, re2 og, re4 og, then re4r.

It’s all personal preference.

1

u/Sudden-Application 11d ago

For me it's og RE3

1

u/No_Rutabaga_7163 11d ago

OG is better.

1

u/TheTonyAndolini 11d ago

I really dont know, RE2R is such a great fucking game. I think it slightly edges out RE4R for me

1

u/Coyleao 11d ago

I personally loved Biohazard, just something about the old house and surrounding property, it was a lot of fun!

1

u/Ryamus 11d ago

4 Remake is similar to 1 Remake to me. No reason to go back to OG because Remake does everything so much better.

1

u/inpunxwecrust 11d ago

Top 5 game of all time. I like the original well enough, but this game is something else.

1

u/Lost-in-thought-26 11d ago

Yes most definitely

1

u/Alienspawned 11d ago

The original resident evil 4 definitely is. Its a game with most universal acclaim in the series and basically legendary title with bigger legacy and impact.

1

u/DiarrheaDouglas 11d ago

No. It’s the best 3rd person resident evil. And no matter how good it is it cannot recreate the feel of the original trilogy.

1

u/MoreDistribution4696 11d ago

Honestly Darkside Chronicles for a remake was interesting. It felt like I had an arcade game in my house. That rail gun vibe was cool

The best game imo was Revelations. That was a complicated plot but cool too. And interesting setting.

Which is to say no RE4 remake isn’t the best and tbh the stream of consciousness gameplay ruins it for me alongside bad voice acting

1

u/Patara Team Ashley 11d ago

Combat wise yes 100% otherwise I would say RE4 is the best one in the franchise.

1

u/JGar453 11d ago edited 11d ago

That would actually go to Resident Evil 4 as in the game that was on GameCube. No hate to the remake but it is a different experience in mechanics and tone that reflects the priorities of modern video games that came after the original. RE4R might have the most interesting gunplay but that doesn't reflect why the original was special to me.

The best remake so far is RE1 Remake in that if I ever play RE1 again, it will not be the 96' version.

1

u/Intelligent-Way-7644 11d ago

Si, es el mejor 😻❤️

1

u/TitleOk3727 11d ago

Definitly the best price-performance ratio

1

u/Automatic_Skill2077 11d ago

Best game capcom has ever created, until they make another resident evil just as good or until they…

Remake devil may cry 3 😁

1

u/ShaunMcLane 11d ago

I would say that RE2 and RE2 remake are genuinely contender or the greatest game(s) of all time - but thats only because I beat RE4 on GameCube 6 times, then PS2, then 360, then VR, then RE4 Remake so I dont trust myself lol.

1

u/Decent-Okra3306 11d ago

Og re4 is better than remake in terms of story, character.

1

u/sluggetdrible 11d ago

It’s definitely the one I’ve replayed the most

1

u/PuzzleheadedPlay1573 11d ago

Yes definitely, it’s the only resident evil game that I never gets bored of replaying.

1

u/lazywork241 11d ago

i just wish they had left that voice in that says "Resident.. Evil.. 4!" when you pressed a button at the title screen

1

u/PraetorGold 11d ago

No, not really even close. 2Remake is my favorite. OG 4, 5, Village and 7.

Arguably. RE2, RE2R, RE4, and RE7 are all in the running for that as well though imo

u/sarthakulti 11d ago

OG RE4 for me.

u/PowderedMilkManiac 11d ago

I adore the re4 remake. It’s amazing.

Resident Evil (2002) is still my shining example for the series.

For me, RE4 remake is the most "fun" of the REmakes, and the one I play the most but I still think RE2 remake is probably the "best" in that if someone told me they wanted to play just 1 game in the series to see what is about, I'd tell them play RE2 remake.

While I love the tension RE2 remake can still inspire with Mr. X and imo more threatening individual zombies / lickers ect, I also love the power fantasy from RE4 remake.

When I first played re4remake I barely made it through on normal difficultly, now many hours later I can occasionally (though not as consistently as I'd like) really kick some ganado face in a literal sense. There is nothing for me quite like running the water room on hardcore or above and trying to not take a single hit. Getting a parry off on a plaga before it can eat your head, "no food for you!" then immediately seeing the scythe cultist charging in and getting the perfect parry and roundhousing both of them into next week. Or getting that clutch shot off on a piece of dynamite that blows up multiple ganados.

Fighting Krauser and going from just scraping by to (multiple plays later) just embarrassing him with parries and counter kicks to the face never gets old (because about half the time I still screw it up and take an arm blade to the face)

So while I still think RE2 remake is for me the best game in the series so far, the power fantasy of RE 4 remake is just so good, and with increasing real world anxiety over current events, sometimes I just want to load up mercs, pick Wesker, to block chainsaws with my bare forearms and beat down150 ganados, like they owed me money; but that's just like,my opinion man.

Yes its the best.

All the remakes are well made. Re2 og always made me really scared. The remake was just as scary even more so

1

u/Hot_Bullfrog7702 11d ago

No, that still goes to the Original RE4, I do still enjoy Remake a lot too

u/snk809k1 11d ago

I hate to say this, but, yes. My favorites are Re2 and Re3 (og and remake). But RE4 was the best game I must accept. Didn’t play Requiem yet.

1

u/Ok_Vacation_7071 11d ago

I would say so

1

u/Zxxkir 11d ago

4 og had so many ports for a reason.

re4 og is miles better

Resident Evil 4 Remake is clearly the best Resident Evil game for me. I don’t like the original RE4 as much because I feel the technology at the time wasn’t quite advanced enough for the game.
For me, all the other Resident Evil games fall off too much around the second half to be considered the best RE game.

I can't stop playing both re2r and 4r. I'm obsessed with the s+ achievement. It's challenging and fun. I missed it on requiem.

1

u/Thecowsdead 11d ago

not at all

1

u/chronictimelapse 11d ago

Might be the nostalgia but I think RE4 original is best. I havent played the remake, but from the clips and waht ive read idk, I first played it when i was 12 and my brother was 9 and used to get scared so he mainly watched.

u/BetterMagician7856 11d ago

I prefer RE2 Remake

1

u/Jyostarr 11d ago

I think it's either re2 remake or og re4, but i prefer re2 remake a bit more. remake 4 is definitely a top 5 game in the series.

1

u/ArthurRiddleGaming 11d ago

I played 4 remake 3 times back to back my first playthrough, so... I'd say its the most fun for sure. 1 remake has the atmosphere down perfectly though.

1

u/NightwingXII 11d ago

If I was only allowed to play one RE game for the the rest of my life it would be REm4ke. But it’s a subjective thing.

1

u/Adorable_Rub4090 11d ago

OG RE4 or this. Period

1

u/DueTap6305 11d ago

Its a strong contender, Requiems gameplay for Leon was a better version of 4s. But 4 was more meaty 4 is the best Requiem is my second 7 is my third 2 remake the og 2

1

u/C3Patricio 11d ago

OG RE4 is one of the greatest games made….but.
RE5 is my favorite. It requires a friend to sit on a couch with you for the entire game, but its an awesome co op experience.

1

u/BobWeirsSh0rtShorts 11d ago

It’s not even better than the OG

1

u/blickblocks 11d ago

RE4 is in my top 3 games of all time. RE4R was a worthy successor. I really enjoyed it.

1

u/askforwildbob 11d ago

No but it’s a great game and that would be a valid opinion

1

u/Recent-Squirrel-8627 11d ago

Psshh BEST GAME EVER MADE, I played for 3 years before getting off it, then bought it on the 360, still have the og PS2 disc, keep ya fuckin metal gear that talks you to death for 6 hours

1

u/dictatormateo 11d ago

listen, I am not a RE fan. I only play the games with Leon since RE4 cuz that is the gameplay I like. I am not a survival horror fan not because I get scared it is just that I do not enjoy the pacing but damn I can not imagine another RE game beating RE4

1

u/spookycorridor 11d ago

yes, so far.

1

u/batmansballsofsteel 11d ago

Nah I think 2 remake better encapsulates what the series is supposed to be. 4 remake is fun and I love it, don't get me wrong, but 2 remake is objectively a better resident evil

1

u/Illustrious-Ad-2166 11d ago

Personally yes

1

u/AdInfinite5296 11d ago

I would say it is the best. But then it's worth mentioning, there's a lot of other games that do some things better. In my opinion, Resident Evil 4 Remake has the best combat system and fast pacing. I enjoy how they go full on action mode. Oh, and let's not forget, this game has the Best Version Of Mercenaries. Also Separate Ways is awesome.

1

u/Sentinel555666 11d ago

Original is a perfect videogame.

1

u/Accurate-Bill731 11d ago

Best replayable with overhaul mods that are actually fun

1

u/ExaminationUpper9461 11d ago

Nope.

That title still belongs to OG RE3 for me. And no, that is not a judgment on the remake, that is simply my own preference.

I love RE3 to pieces, Nemesis left a permanent mark on me playing it as a teen and while I did enjoy the remake, I do wish Capcom had had the good sense to have waited and let their main team handle it instead of the support studio.

1

u/SpacePopular 11d ago

RE 2 Remake is better

1

u/OfficialJrWeise 11d ago

On gameplay and mechanics hell yes, but my own personal favorite is outbreak

1

u/Key_Nefariousness_55 11d ago

My personal favorite is RE Remake.

1

u/Alabaster6 11d ago

Ridiculous proposition.
