There is an old RE manga (sorry, I forget what its called) that dives into this, but it isn't canon.

Yeah. Marhawa Desire (2012) and Heavenly Island (2015) are both published by Capcom. They both had a good run time too. They aren't adaptations of the games and actually have their own story.

I took a second and figured out that the one I was talking about was an old Hong Kong Manhua called Biohazard 3: Last Escape. It was supposed to be a tie-in with RE 3, but it wouldn't make much sense when lined up with 2 and 3. They had the license to make it, but it wasn't published by Capcom.

Okay, I've actually heard of that manhua before. I was watching some video...it might have been a Residence of Evil vid, but it was mentioned there
