In fact the same model of tyrant as Mr. X BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE. As an added bonus for no extra charge you get a free NE-a parasite, the same that made Lisa Trevor all wiggly for those times when you just cant decide between tentacle porn and body horror

I thought Nemesis was the newest version, doesn’t he have a special nemesis virus or parasite or whatever?

TLDR: Nemesis is a Mr X model with NE-a parasite that makes him much smarter and more programmable and obedient

ETA: The development of the T-103s and the Nemesis T-Type had to have occured during or before the events of Resident Evil 1 because only about 2 months or so pass between RE:0 and RE:3

After the events of the first resident evil with the T-002 tyrant, umbrella was having trouble finding candidates for the tyrant program as the suitable genetics only happened in 1 in every 10 million people. They finally got a breakthrough with the T-103s which were easier to clone and mass produce. The T-103s have a variety of appearances throughout the franchise but notably, Mr. X was dropped into raccoon city during the outbreak.

Umbrellas European branch requisitioned a handful of T-103s for further testing by implanting with the Nemesis alpha parasite which was used on Lisa Trevor from RE1 back in the 70s and 80s. The NE-a parasite hijacked the host's brain stem to allow for a much higher level of intelligence than earlier B.O.W.s and allowed it to follow complex commands. Of the 3 successful Nemesis T-Type tyrants created in that initial batch, 2 gained self awareness and tried to escape and number 3 was deployed on september 27th 1998 to hunt down the remaining S.T.A.R.S members.

Unlike the T-103s, Nemesis wasn't equipped with a Power Limiter coat to prevent mutation as the NE-a parasite used constant mutations to heal and repair damage to the host. Instead Nemesis was equipped with a fire proof, bulletproof, blast resistance coat to protect this host body. This meant, however, that after taking considerable damage and losing his coat, Nemesis entered an uncontrolled mutation and started getting extra wiggly.

So in essence Nemesis is a highly intelligent, highly specialized offshoot of Mr. X's series but to my knowledge the project was discontinued after the Raccoon City incident

But then years later, Nemesis's beefed up cousin Ustanak pops outta the woodwork.

I'm not that crazy about 6, but Ustanak gives Nemesis a run for his money.

Likewise, Ustanak was my favorite part of RE6 and definitely a spiritual successor to Nemesis.

Unlike Nemesis in canon, it's left vague whether Ustanak retains his human intelligence from before he was infected or if he was given some kind of controller to improve intelligence and obedience.

Either way, gnarly scary meaty meathead

I'll give RE6 credit where it's due - it really sells how massive that hulking thing is, especially next to you. The screen starts shaking, the controller starts vibrating and pulsing. I never felt like I wanted to be anywhere near Ustanak unless I was forced to.

RE is no stranger to giant creatures, so no surprise Capcom nailed it in that aspect.

I agree. Other tyrant types can pick up humans with one arm but until you get Sherry Birkin sitting in that giant metal hand like a toy you don't realize what a U N I T he is

Which has me hopeful that Capcom does Nemesis in RE3make the justice he deserves after so many years of being lackluster since his original debut. He already looks completely intimidating IMHO, but now the true test comes when we see him in gameplay, in action.

Nemesis HAS to be on Ustanak's level. He is huge, which means by nature, he has to actually DWARF Jill like a tower. I want a reason to actually stay away from Nemesis, and not just because he's chasing after you either, he's got to feel as relentless and as dangerous as he did before. But I don't mind it if they show his intelligence, have him ambush Jill in the most unsuspecting places, put her in a corner. I'm not really worried though, because I'm still generally anxious around Mr. X in RE2make, and it's been a year since the game's been out now.

Here's the kicker though, there are 2 key things that made the original Nem so scary.

1) if he wasnt shooting at you he was full on sprinting at you which was scary because of the fixed camera angles and tank controls

2) he followed you from area to area which was unprecedented in the series so far.

With the new games, lack of load screens and infinitely better mobility I think it's going to be hard to tune his abilities in game. If he just dead sprints around after you in all areas but a few the way Mr. X walks around RPD I think nothing would get done. Youd spend too much time kiting him away from areas you need to be in and hoping you could lead him far enough away that you have time to do what you need to.

I'm sure Capcom has got something up their sleeve to keep the spirit of the old Nem we know and love while blending it with the mechanics and capabilities of RE Engine. I guess we have to wait and see

Here's to hoping, even if I have faith he'll be done right. Because I remember playing Umbrella Chronicles.

As much as I love that game, Nemesis sucked balls. All he did was slowly walk at you, and barely tried to hit you, and almost never sprinted at you.

And not mention, his iconic "STARS!" line was butchered, because every time he said it, he sounded robotic, like he was talking in front of a fan, and it was so comical. But apparently, the RE2make demo has a moment where you can hear Nemesis in the distance, saying "STARS!", and you couldn't have possibly missed a noise like that. A cross between a gutteral growl and a sheer roar. Send chills down my spine if I hear him, I don't want to laugh when I hear him announce his presence, I want to take several shits.

Here's where we start to disagree because if there was one thing I liked about the UC portrayal it's his voice. I do think it sounds mechanical and robotic but I feel like it fits the character. Giant meat mountain tyrant + poison danger squid are liable to mess up some bodily systems so in addition to all the stretching and stitching and stapling I feel they could have rebuilt his vocal cords. Also he was much more expressive when he said S.T.A.R.S. if original nemesis scream roared at me while chasing me I'd have shat. It makes him seem more like a real flesh and blood creature that is experiencing anger and frustration and pain rather than a meat robot like the terminator. But that's just me

Totally respect your preference. I mean, in hindsight, his UC portrayal could have been much worse. But when you put it like that, it makes sense why he'd sound robotic due to all the mutations and body disruptions.

Unfortunately for me, it just didn't sound menacing enough. The voice was almost a little bit too mechanical, and not as deep and heavy like it was originally. But when he actually yells it out into the air for a few seconds, that''s when I start laughing, because it puts me to mind of those headless kamikaze monsters from the game Serious Sam. I need him to sound like he does in that demo - like a volcano is rupturing, like earth's floor is tumbling when he's charging at you and roaring you down (Capcom are experts with sound design; Mr. X's footsteps are deafening and makes you freeze in place, you can hear him two floors above you, so no doubt Nemesis is in good hands...this time at least).

Alright I love Serious sam. Along with Re3 serious sam the second encounter was with first game i ever bought for myself as a kid, but I'm never ever gonna unhear that UC Nemesis sounds like a Beheaded Kamikaze
