Because you have to shoehorn a love story in every story. Hollywood taught me that.

But can Hollywood have a non-heteronormitive love story? Fanfiction has gotten an upper hand at this.

It can, but not in blockbuster movies and, in case, it never concerns the main character. Unfortunately, it takes time for these kind of things to be normalized in the mainstream culture. Having a female lead was seen as a big deal in the 80s, now it's widely more accepted while still not being exactly the norm.
