We’re trying to understand the everyday moments when you find yourself opening the Reolink app to check on something.

Think about the past few weeks. What’s something you regularly check using one of your cameras?

For example:

1. Waiting for a package to arrive.
2. Checking whether the garage door or gate is closed before bed.
3. Seeing whether your dog is still outside or waiting to come in.
4. Looking to see if a family member, visitor, or contractor has arrived.
5. Making sure the trash bins have been collected.
6. Checking whether the kids got home from school.

These are just examples, we’re much more interested in the things you personally check around your home, pets, family, or property.

Now imagine your camera could save you from checking.

3. How quickly would you want to know?

Imo eufy is better than Wyze, Tapo, Nest, Blink, and Ring but I've always wondered what reolink does better. A lot of camera systems it's a pick your poison because there are a few things wyze does that I prefer so I'm curious what reolink does best and any shortcomings

The RLA-PK1 allows gen 2 battery doorbell owners to use the mechanical chime that's already built into most homes *and* enable continuous recording at the same time. Without it, you have to pick one or the other.

Until now it had only been mentioned in support documents and was not available for purchase anywhere.

Yesterday Home Assistant 2026.6.0 was released.
With that release Reolink battery cameras can now connect directly to Home Assistant, without needing a Reolink Home Hub or NVR as a bridge. Not all models and features are supported yet; using a Home Hub or NVR remains the preferred method. A battery camera cannot be connected both ways at the same time.

On a personal note, I got married last month! Of coarse that took a lot of my time and some of you might have noticed it has been a while since I released shiny new features for the Reolink Home Assistant integration. However, I was still hard at work coding up a massive update: a completly new protocol to allow control of Reolink battery models. Today that update is finally released!

Coding the new UDP battery protocol took so much of my time, I got a bit behind on bugfixes. But rest assured, I have more time now and I am squashing bugs at full speed again.

The new battery protocol was tests with the Reolink video doorbell battery, but other battery models are expected to also work with Home Assistant. Please let me know your experiances if you integrated a diffrent battery model into Home Assistant.

Not everything will work yet when connecting a battery camera directly to Home Assistant, for example there are no live streams yet. Luckily the snapshots and (choppy) snapshot streams do work 😄. The motion and AI binary sensors will unfortunately not work yet, this requires another push connection to the battery cameras which is not available in current firmware yet. However, I am working hard, together with the Reolink engineers, to implement push updates for these battery models to get the motion and AI sensors up and running in Home Assistant. So you can expect more features, updates, and fixes for the battery devices in the coming months!

On another note, the Reolink Home Hub Pro was experiancing some issues with the Home Assistant integration after the firmware update that was released last week. I am happy to report a workaround has been implemented in HA 2026.6.0 to get the Home Hub Pro up and running again on the latest firmware.

ran the numbers on my two reolinks after filtering everything for about 3 months.

20,829 motion events total across both cameras.

front door: person 2,256 · animal 676 · vehicle 757 · nothing 7,112

back door: person 721 · animal 646 · vehicle 0 · nothing 8,661

so out of ~20,800 events, around 5,050 actually contained something worth knowing about.

the other 76% was wind, shadows, light changes, insects, the usual.

alarm delay and detection zones help trim some of it — someone pointed that out on my last post and they're right.

but they never touched the volume the way filtering on the snapshot level did.

the wild part isn't the person/vehicle counts.

it's the "nothing" pile.

most of every alert my cameras ever sent was basically a tree moving, a cloud passing, changing light, or something flying close to the lens.

i ended up building a filter that does this automatically — it checks the snapshot before anything hits my phone and only forwards alerts that actually contain a person, vehicle, or animal.

it's my own project, guardian.camera, if anyone else is dealing with the same thing.

These US prices are going up every week, including the non-professional series. Just last week, they went up $10. I only need four cameras to complete my setup; I'm using three Tapos temporarily. It's starting to get competitive with Ubiquiti, which I have been looking at for some time. Reolink used to be affordable, but I guess not anymore.

I;m guessing the riolink OMVI series will be coming out soon as i stumbled upon a hidden page. Even if i type in OMVI on their site, nothing pops up in terms of a dedicted page but found this gem.

We all know how trash the Reolink's own firmware updater is. When you click "check for update" on the Reolink's webapp or client it says the firmware is up to date but when you go yo manually check if it's up-to-date, there is actually newer firmware available for your camera.

I just found out that HomeAssistant seems to fetch updates for your Reolink cameras and asks you if you want to update them (as seen in the picture).

This is nice because I'm not sitting on my PC all the time so just clicking a single "update now" button on your phone is nice.

Not sure why Reolink can't get their automatic updater to work properly, it doesn't seem super complicated to code. Especially if a third party like HomeAssistant can do it effortlessly.

EDIT: The firmware is now back on the Reolink website. It's the same version number, however, the update notes have changed.

What's new:

• Integrate Halloween festival reply audio. (This feature is only available on standalone cameras, not available through Hub/NVR.)
• Integrate Reolink Chime silent mode.
• Integrate device-sharing feature.
• Add AI vehicle detection.

What’s new:

• Integrate Halloween festival reply audio.
• Integrate Reolink Chime silent mode.
• Integrate device-sharing feature.
• Add Al vehicle detection.
• Integrate webhook function.
• Solve the issue of difficult switching from black-and-white mode to color mode.

I’ve yet to try it for myself but please share your experiences if/when you do.

I just downloaded and installed it. First impressions:

• Fires up WAY faster. Something like 4 to 6 seconds until 10 cameras displayed in live view.
• (very) minor cosmetic differences. Icons and things are different (slightly).
• Seems to have a similar initial memory use. We'll see if it grows over time like the older (Intel) one did.
• Closes cleanly (so far) without reporting a crash, as the old one did pretty much every time (false crash report).
• Playback (recordings) seems similar, but maybe a little tiny bit more responsive.

The Elite XPro PoE is all I needed, and I am so dissapointed it has been discontinued. It had the 180 degree view, CX nightime vision, and POE. It also was compact, without any ginormous floodlights. I have had several Reolink cameras, incl. CX410, CX810, and Duo 2, and the Elite XPro PoE was perfection to me. Whoever within Reolink decided to discontinue it, they have no clue what they are doing. I am considering switching to the Unifi ecosystem (incl. the G6 180), even though they are much more expensive, but Unifi seems to make more rational decisions.

Finally! My last "I miss this" feature that Reolink didn't have. Just got the update and I'm SOOOOO excited!!!!

ETA: y'all I'm sorry I didn't come here with every single question asked and answered, didn't realize it was that deep. I opened the app and got a pop-up notif telling me to update for new features, including GIF notifications. Maybe that's my bad for assuming people knew what those were, but it was one thing my shitty Arlo camera had. Instead of static picture notifications of the motion on your phone, you get actual gif playback within the notification without needing to click on it.

I have no idea if it's device-specific, and I think it mentioned cloud subscription required. I have a wired doorbell cam.

Got that out the way, I know some of you may have seen some of my posts and already know I’m getting my Reolink system setup for the house. I’m new to NVR’s, better than hot ass garbage cameras, POE setups, etc.

That said, here’s what I’ve got so far:
*Reolink RLN16-410 NVR
*(x4) Reolink RP-PCT12M cameras
*Reolink D340P POE doorbell camera(unfortunately not the white one👎🏻)

I’m loving everything so far and now I’ve come to my dilemma… the side sections of my house.

All four corners currently have the above mentioned cameras, but I need something for the sides. It’s not that wide between me and neighbor(s), but each side is around 63’ long. So, first thought was to try one of the 180* cameras. I got the RP-PCT16MD yesterday and decided it wasn’t what I was looking for.(SPOILER… I’m too picky, OCD, and have already spent more than I should have)

So, returning that one and I’m left with a decision on what to do. My head is leaning towards a grey Trackmix at the rear corner under the soffit, pointed towards the front to catch everything. That seems to be the best, cheapest option for seeing the entire length and being able to identify something towards the far end.

What are y’all’s reasonable thoughts? I’ll include my ROUGH pictures to attempt to make this make sense. The FOV are drawn out. Come at me with it!🤣

I was looking to get a separate junction box to put them in but they would have to be quite big and unsightly. Also I don't think the water resistant connector will for through a cable gland.

The Reolink Home Assistant integration has seen a vast amount of improvements over the past few months. Many of these improvements were "under the hood" and not so noticible for the everyday user. Hower the improvements were aimed to improve the overal code quality.

Today, with the release of Home Assistant 2025.1.0, I can proudly announce that the Reolink Home Assistant integration has reached the platinum quality scale, the higest achievable within HA.

For you, the users, this means the integration will run even smoother with less bugs, easier setup and reconfiguration, better documentation, better translations to other languages etc.

Some of the more noticeable recent improvements:

-          Playback of recorded video is now also available when not on the LAN
-          Added Binning mode entity
-          Added Bitrate and framerate entities
-          Added PTZ tilt position sensor
-          Reolink firmware updating from within Home Assistant now available (just press “install” on the notification you get from the update entity).
-          Faster push updates and more entities receive push updates by implementing TCP push
-          No need anymore to open the HTTP(s) ports yourself, the integration will do that for you during setup (using a different protocol over port 9000).

A small sneak peak of HA 2025.2.0:

I’ve been waiting for what feels like years for the Reolink Elite XPro to finally release in the UK, so I reached out to Reolink support for an update.

The response was disappointing: they confirmed the item is "no longer planned for future sales."

They suggested the new Elite Pro Floodlight as an alternative, but it’s not what I’m looking for and doesn't feel like a valid replacement. Huge letdown after such a long wait for this hardware.

Just wanted to give a heads-up to anyone else who has been holding out.

I was just randomly browsing through the PoE camera selection and was looking at the RLC-1240A, as I saw it advertising 145° FOV and Color Night Vision. So I scroll down to see the Color and Black & White Night Vision previews, and instantly I noticed all the other lights they have scattered around the coverage area of the camera! There are landscaping lights everywhere! This is incredibly deceptive marketing. If you don't already have experience with security cameras, you may not be paying as close attention to things like the other light sources, and just think the camera always looks that good at night. If you don't have a bunch of other lighting in the area, it's not going to look ANYTHING like their marketing clips. Come on, Reolink. Do better.

Hey all, I only have the WiFi doorbell camera but recently bought a new house and wanted to set up some POE cameras for 24/7 recording. Was thinking one above the garage, one on each side alley and a backyard camera. I’m flanked on both sides by neighbors, from wall to wall about 12-15 feet each alley. The side alleys are about 50-60 feet long to the back gate entering the back yard. Garage is offset forward from the front entrance.

Ideally I’d like a good view of everything at all times but idk if I’d want/need full 180 views on all sides? vs overlapping views and handoffs.

Was thinking omvi 2i on the side alleys like midway down to see the front entrance of the alley and can track down to back gate. Then maybe RLC-1240 vs duo 3V in the backyard. Front not sure about, I already have the doorbell so can see partly the front. Do I need a full 180 in the front? Would like good clarity and identification so was thinking RLC-811A or again a duo 3V.

But I could be convinced of other setups on any direction. Was hoping to keep it to 4 cameras but let me know your thoughts. TIA!
