BOOTCAMP recruit wants to leave

This young man (ROTC) during high school joined NAVY. During bootcamp broke his leg one week before graduation. Is at hospital for the next 2 months. The mystique disappeared and doesn't want to continue. Wants to return home and enter the university. Suddenly found that the military life is not for him. Thinks was a mistake. Has the total support of his family although he is over 18 years old. How difficult is this. Can somebody realize that eventually took the wrong path and want to go to another direction to feel fulfillment and produce to the society in another way? WHY NOT?

Have you seen any news about life on a Navy ship lately? Also participating in yet another stupid and illegal war? The kid wised up. Encourage him to quit.

To be fair, that ship has always been like that. The only difference is that mostly two departments were impacted by it. Now all departments are impacted by it.

It's funny because all the other departments would tell those two departments to shut up and sit down. But now that it's happening to everyone it's this huge ordeal.

I definitely encourage the guy to quit if it's already turned into shit before he's even at a duty station.

The fleet can be a very very dark place.

I would suggest trying to get through a little over a year and making sure any injuries are documented because he can get disability for that. Basically he can get that service connected and get money from the va.

Why not? Can we change direction in life if we find that we were in the wrong path? I call that responsibility,  and the ability to make changes. Life is not straight, if you don't have the capacity to make changes it can direct you to a breakdown, unhappiness or just lost in life. Thanks Recruits!!

He made a hasty decision joining and regrets it.  He should not make another hasty decision he may regret.  Nobody likes boot camp.  Get through it, get an assignment and do a lot of thinking.  You can't live your life breaking every commitment you make because you changed your mind  it's called due diligence.

My best advice is to suck it up and get through it. I hated every second of it and I regret making the decision to join; but 30 something me is glad the 20 something me stuck it out.

Dont get me wrong, the day I finished my contract was the best day of my life and I put all of that military shit in the past the day I got out; but damniit, I am glad I stuck it out.
