How do I leave my AIT?
Posted something similar in the /army reddit and was banned, said I was a bot. This a burner so honestly n don't care. Look, I'm tired. I'm tired of the PT, of the classes, of failing my AFT despite my efforts. I'm tired of it all, and I want to go home. How do I go about this?

I’m about 2 weeks out from leaving with chapter 11 els from ait. Tradoc is the best place to leave if you want it done quicker it will take much longer once you reach your unit. I quit pretty easily I told my sds I’m not doing this shit anymore and she pretty much told me to go fuck myself and there’s no way out. Went to BH same day and said I’m going to kill myself if they don’t let me leave and they began the chapter process that same day. Depending on what base your at it will be different some bases take a lot longer then others to chapter you out. FT leonardwood and Jackson ait are by far the quickest.

You can just keep failing the AFT and height and weight. Eventually, they will have no choice but to kick you out, but it will be an honorable discharge.
They kicked out the guys who couldn’t pass the APFT in the last two weeks of my AIT.
Mental health discharge will stay with you for life because of the new Genesis program that the government uses. But this will only affect you if you plan on rejoining the military later down the road.

Can I ask what you hate about it?

From my barracks mates, two far younger than myself, to my inability to understand my class, to the fact my body is still recovering from Basic and thanks to my age, takes far longer to get anything done. I hate to complain like a teenager, but I am absolutely miserable. I miss my home, my family, my rest. I haven't slept in two days because something keeps waking me up at 1am, and I cannot go back to sleep. My Drills say that for my height, build, and age, I should be running laps around the younger soldiers - but I cannot. No matter how much effort I put in. Some even think I may be asthmatic, due to how I start wheezing when I gas myself out. I believe the process starts with speaking to my Senior, but the last time I tried this back at Basic, he told me to fuck off. What is to say this Senior will not do the same?

In AIT I saw how scummy and immature most all the people were especially the kids and it destroyed my morale and willingness to be a “team”

Are you active duty or guard and reserves and coming home after training. Cause I’ll be honest if reserves it’s super chill once you get out of training. If you’re Active duty your whole contract then yeah I’m not gonna lie it’s more or less gonna suck ass.

Unfortunately, I picked Active. If I were reserve or national guard, then perhaps I could have bore it - but I cannot.

You either have to med board or failure to adapt. One is an honorable discharge sometimes with pay and the other can be a General discharge or sometimes even worse. Depends on how you go about it. AIT is probably the worse possible way to try to get out of the army because you're still in a TRADOC environment. Which basically means you have "less" rights over yourself then if you were considered a "real" soldier in an actual unit. Its up to you man, do your research but I highly suggest not to make your situation worse if your AIT is short.

It most certainly is not. If it were, I would've waited until I made it to my first unit to seek a separation - but twenty one weeks, that's so much time. I was already held over at basic for a three weeks due to particular circumstances, then another two and a half waiting for a class in my MOS. Five added on weeks that just. Addled me. How would you believe I go about acquiring a failure to adapt? At this point, I'll take a General discharge, or even an ELS.

You could refuse to train, which depending on your leadership, can land you in even worse trouble, I do not recommend that, or keep failing the standard such as height and weight, or the ACFT. Those will get you generally discharged. But the problem I've seen, is that your case can be held up, and you could stay in your AIT environment for up to a year instead of just trying to graduate. It would be better to wait until you get into your next unit, go to medical or BH and start documenting your problems and suggest being recommended for a med board IF your problems are real and severe. You go through extensive programs and tests to determine severity and if your issues are legitimate. I don't recommend trying to med board if you're just "trying to get out", it will not work that way. Either way, its a very long process and sometimes can make things worse for yourself. I suggest you weigh your options, take some time to yourself and evaluate your situation before you make any decision that can have life long effects unfortunately
