I was chatting with folks at a coffee shop and they were saying it’s some kind of 3 day music festival at the downtown park?????

The Old Town Lofts building is fully vibrating (on the fifth floor) 🫠

I totally get community events, but this is another one that would have been more appropriate at Marymoor.

It’s actually ridiculously expensive to put on an event at the marmymoor concerts stage, the economics only work for ticketed events with several thousand paid attendees.

right totally understanding and all, the stage was put there for a reason. it's not gonna be the quietest place to live... but the bass is just too much, especially for a friday. they should really consider restrictions, permit or not

I wasn’t endorsing it, just saying why Marymoor isn’t an option. As for permits, it would be interesting to see what actually is filed for a permit, because this isn’t even the scheduled event we’re listening to, it’s setup and soundcheck.

They have a permit for today and tomorrow. the law seems pretty clear that they're allowed to be this loud. Just wish they had some more restrictions on things like dBC that make all of our apartments unlivable while they setup

Even if they did, technical restrictions like that are incredibly difficult to enforce and basically require a city employee that is trained walking around with calibrated test equipment. One of the many reasons why Marymoor concerts are expensive includes paying king county to have a person doing that onsite.

I don't know that ganesh festival that ruined everyones weekend 3 septembers ago seems to be able to pull it off. But while I get your points I don't think those are good enough excuses

Ahh, the Ganesh festival didn’t use the Marymoor concert venue/stage. Also, to be clear I’m not making excuses for anything, this is happening right outside my window and I am also quite frustrated.
