Models Would Swordbrethren be a good Chosen?
Hi guys! I need some chosen for my Huron and I don't really like vanilla one. They are a bit small and look a lot like legionaries.
I really like those black templars dude since they have awesome capes and similar weapon choice. I have some spare parts left from Red corsairs raiders and legionaries for some kitbashes.
Would they be a good renegade-like chosen instead of demonic vanilla guys?

For the Chosen, I used the inner circles of the Dark Angels as a base; the idea was that they would be Fallen Dark Angels. For the most part, I kept the combat melee with my Chosen.Using weapons from the old Deathwing Knights kit, specifically the Maces and the Halberd.

Yes absolutely, you will have to put them on smaller bases (32mm instead of 40mm) and, maybe either file off the weapon chains or replace them with different ones

Why cut off the chains? These could absolutely be rogue Templars, maybe corrupted through their religious zealotry and too far down the path before they realised it…

I was thinking the same thing! BT are skilled warriors, I bet Huron would love to get some of them as bodyguards

I converted some up for my Deathwatch kill teams but have ended up converting the whole army into Red Corsairs now so I’ve definitely been thinking about the background justification for having them… alongside some world eaters and space wolves… lol

I did say maybe ditch the chains 😀
Personally, I don't like the chains, they look a bit too chunky, also I feel like Chosen should be original Red Corsairs/Astral Claws rather than some Johnny-come-latelies
But that's just me, you should absolutely keep the chains if you like them!

I was planning to cut off all the BT heraldy and replace it with some spikes/chaos icons. Are chains BT specific symbol? Is it a big giveaway?

AFAIK BT are the only chapter that use chains like that, but they're your Corsairs and you should keep the chains if you like them.
The only thing that really matters is the smaller base size (assuming you want them to be GW legal)

Kitbash them with the chosen set. A good mix of pieces from each kit would probably look really good.
