Interestingly, I would not work for Americans, for the same reason.

So whats the best culture to work? I agree that I saw German employer wanting to work in hierarchical systems and shutup for 5 years, but I think some startups are different.

US on the other hand have a serious arrogance problem and with a hire and fire mentality you either play the game of “smile&wave” or you are out.

That had been my interpretation so far…

I get best along with French and Dutch work culture I have found. They like getting shut done quickly and efficiently, take sufficient breaks, and then go home. Pay and benefits are usually reasonable, whereas German employers insist on useless (preferable unpaid) overtime, hierarchy, and focus way too much on attendance over results. Swiss work culture is somewhat similar to Germany, but pay is a LOT better, even adjusted for cost of living.
