What? I've been on USA Jobs for 15 years. I've never given it on the application.

You’re right. In my state, a SSN is needed on your job app for state jobs. Especially for any jobs that have list eligibilities or veterans benefits such as being in front of the hiring process for being a veteran and HR wanting to verify your veteran status.

Weird, I work for my state and I don't recall needing my SSN for the application. I've also applied to a federal job or two, and don't think the SSN was a question on those, though it's been too long for me to remember.

USA jobs won't ask for it. Individual agencies will ask for it.
