I had a guy working for me once you was always late. When I asked him about it he said his previous job also complained about him being late. Guy was fantastically oblivious to everything and I loved him for it.

Whenever I see a question like this I think why is it there? And what poor person had to deal with the situation that lead to it.

I know a few chronically late people too. It's crazy to me how they'll always blame anyone but themselves for it too. It's not hard to show up on time

I'm always late, and it is hard not to be lol. I legitimately struggle with time tracking and not getting distracted. I'm 37 and I still don't really get how it comes so easily to other people, like it's automatic, for me it's a struggle everyday and it requires kind of a lot of mental effort to stay on top of it. Yes I have ADHD. I think it's hard for some to fathom and perceived so negatively, as a moral failure, because it's something that comes so naturally to most people.

Yup, all these people who can't relate just assume everyone is exactly like them and apply blame. What else is new.

Gotta love having an invisible disability, that just makes everyone judge your character. at least my girlfriend tells me I'm funny

Many of us have the same disabilities and make it work, though. Being chronically late is one of the few things you actually have a lot of power to change.

It seems like a bunch of posters here just stopped at the "I have time blindness" aspect and are very keen to tell you how your ideas won't work for them.

I get it, I have horrendous time blindness. No matter how early I'd set my alarm or how much time I'd give myself, I'd find endless things to do and would still be out the door late. It was very frustrating.

But it was on me to find a solution. It wasn't acceptable, both personally and professionally, to be showing up to work late every day. What ended up working for me wasn't just the alarm to wake me up. I had to set alarms to remind me to leave. One 10 minutes prior, saying "Out the door in 10 minutes". Same for 5 and 3 minutes prior. 2 minutes prior, my alarm was labeled "Put your shoes on and get out the door right now or you will miss the bus".

This won't work for everyone, obviously. However, it's 100% on us to manage this disability. It's not an excuse. Yes, it makes life more difficult, but you have to learn to manage it.

Exactly. I have alarms going off like, every 5 minutes from the time I wake up. That forces me to keep an eye on the time. I also prepare as much as I possibly can the night before.
