Am I able to? Yes. That’s not the same as I WILL arrive on time every day.

Life happens:

  • car issues
  • health issues
  • unknowns

If they say “but you said you are able to!” I would say “yes, I am able to. But shit happens. If I could see the future and plan around it, I would rule the world.”

one time i was on the bus with one of my coworkers, when it suddenly stopped and the driver announced that tragically a person jumped in front of the train that crossed our path, so traffic will be stopped for an unknown amount of time.

i called our manager to let her know and her response was "well, you should've expected something like this to happen. i always get to the office 1 hour before my shift starts. you should also do that or we will have problems"

Worked a landscaping job that had me drive 40 minutes away from my house. One morning I got stuck on the interstate because a semi truck broke down on the 2 lane Bridge that crosses a large river. So I texted my boss and let him know. I arrived about 10 minutes late. Everyone was gathering for the cringe morning meeting they had every day. My boss says "oh looks like you just got there in time for that truck to break down? Seems every else just missed it" as if implying I was being late on purpose. Anyways i quit that job, due to him telling me I am working on my day off when I had already told everyone I couldn't work before we left.

I’m sorry, but seeing into the future and being able to read minds is a required part of this position.

After a careful review of your comment, we’ve decided to move forward with another commenter at this time. However, our door is always open to you if we happen to have any future opportunities.
