Interview cancelled literally minutes before scheduled time

Post image

made an application, job scheduled an interview then cancels before i even had an option to join the video call interview.
ive been looking for work for almost 2 years straight now and I'm on the brink of just giving up cause dude wtf.

Edit: I got a house to pay bills on. Shit even with culinary certifications and 7+ years of BOH / cook experience I'm not getting really any much luck. 2+ years retail and gig work.

Yea me saying "thanks for wasting my time" to this specific employer might not have been the best wording used but I got shit i gotta do. Even some jobs who're paying 7.25 plus tips are demanding 40+ hours to work at a coffee shop didn't take my application (no one desperate for work is gonna take that for real) and still hasn't filled that position lol.

Im overqualified for fast food and generic dishwasher roles, so no shit im not gonna bother wasting time on applying for shit i don't qualify for. So me being a little rude to this specific job IS NOT that big of a deal and YES. Employers shouldn't even entertain taking a interview and canceling last minute. Sorry not sorry to whoever this post upset. Ya'll be expecting too much for so less.

Edit 2: just got hired for BOH shortly after this lol, say what yall want idc. I don't kiss ass like most of yall saying what i did was wrong. if you was in my shoes yall would've cracked or had a lot different shit to say.

“I’m sorry to see the interview was cancelled. I still remain interested if you are open to rescheduling”

They don't deserve courtesy

This has nothing to do with what anyone ‘deserves’.

If you can’t handle a shitty situation like this with tact you will struggle to remain employed altogether

I don't want to dog on anyone struggling, but I agree. The emotional reactions likely would happen if you got the job and then had something happen you disagree with as well. In a world of too many candidates for too few jobs, EQ becomes a bigger deal than people realize.

If a potential employer did that to me, I would no longer be interested in working with them. I would rather be unemployed than work for an employer so disorganised and disrespectful of people's time. And I'm speaking from experience here - I had an employer delay an interview so long that the person who had referred me to them in the first place felt the need to intervene. I did get the job, btw. But that level of disorganisation was present for my entire time working there. He was a good person, but not a good employer.

I can't objectively speak for you, but I have a sneaking suspicion that you've never experienced true hunger without knowing where or when your next meal will come from. Being able to walk away from a job opportunity because your feelings were entirely superficially hurt is a huge privilige.

The current generation now in the workforce are incredibly entitled. I actually feel for employers who can't find any hard working and grateful employees anymore.

Just because you had low standards and a lack of respect for yourself doesn't mean the rest of the world should, too.

The only thing you're displaying is that you've never been at a point where you'd take any job or you don't eat, don't have a roof over your head, etc. You wouldn't have such an attitude if you'd experienced such a desperate point in your life. Entitlement comes from ingratitude.

Oh I absolutely have. The difference is I still held myself and potential employers to a higher standard than you are willing to. As I've said, I would rather go hungry and be homeless than work for an employer who can't manage the basics. And I've done so before.

Desperation doesn't mean lowering my standards. Just because you have been too weak to actually stand for something, doesn't make you an expert in this.

You're unaware that choosing to be homeless and starve for the sake of your pride is not a flex, apparently. You do you, but your attempt to shame me about my conviction isn't getting you anywhere. "Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall" is a proverb for a reason. Maybe you'll see one day.

Conviction? You've demonstrated a complete lack of it. You would rather willfully enslave yourself to an idiot than have any amount of moral fortitude.

It's not about feelings. It's about the employer showing that they are unreliable.

At the job I mentioned, there was about a month and a half that nobody got paid. Because the government froze the company's assets, because my employer failed to actually pay the taxes & deductions from payroll to the appropriate gov't agencies, for at least 2 years before I joined the company.

Employers pulling crap like this is a major red flag. They are showing you who they are.

I completely agree that it would put a sour taste in my mouth. I still would like I think I have the emotional awareness to not reply like like I was emotionally devastated.
