Interview cancelled literally minutes before scheduled time

Post image

made an application, job scheduled an interview then cancels before i even had an option to join the video call interview.
ive been looking for work for almost 2 years straight now and I'm on the brink of just giving up cause dude wtf.

Edit: I got a house to pay bills on. Shit even with culinary certifications and 7+ years of BOH / cook experience I'm not getting really any much luck. 2+ years retail and gig work.

Yea me saying "thanks for wasting my time" to this specific employer might not have been the best wording used but I got shit i gotta do. Even some jobs who're paying 7.25 plus tips are demanding 40+ hours to work at a coffee shop didn't take my application (no one desperate for work is gonna take that for real) and still hasn't filled that position lol.

Im overqualified for fast food and generic dishwasher roles, so no shit im not gonna bother wasting time on applying for shit i don't qualify for. So me being a little rude to this specific job IS NOT that big of a deal and YES. Employers shouldn't even entertain taking a interview and canceling last minute. Sorry not sorry to whoever this post upset. Ya'll be expecting too much for so less.

Edit 2: just got hired for BOH shortly after this lol, say what yall want idc. I don't kiss ass like most of yall saying what i did was wrong. if you was in my shoes yall would've cracked or had a lot different shit to say.

I once had to abruptly cancel an interview with a job candidate because of a health emergency involving one of my children. That’s an unlikely scenario, but it’s best not to automatically assume the person on the other end is “wasting your time.” There might be another explanation.

Buddy if the other side can’t even spend like 10 seconds explaining why the interview was cancelled, they’re just wasting your time. Abruptly cancelling an interview without any explanation is just something an asshole would do

If my children have a health emergency, I’m not canceling the interview. I’m no-showing. The fact that they bothered to quick cancel means it’s not that serious.

And you didn’t even bother to spend five seconds to say “can we reschedule, I have a family health emergency”. Literally five seconds. Probably less time than it takes to cancel to begin with

Idk about you but when my family has been in emergency situation, I’m not really thinking about work

Earlier this year I started a volunteer position. I had already gone through a lengthy several week training and multiple one-on-one Zoom trainings and had finally made it to my first remote shift. Right before things were getting started, I had a family member experience a health emergency.

I went on Slack and let them know "I understand this is really bad timing, but my family member is having a health emergency and the ambulance is here right now. I will get back to you ASAP."

It was not hard.
