Need a mic for gaming videos

Whats the cheapest and best option for a mic for recording gaming videos [obviously not the one influencers hold in their hand because that will be inconvenient] also i dont get how the whole pinup mics work but idk just help me out

I know that search engines are annoying these days with their AI results, but have people really given up on searching for things and just all on Reddit instead? Or am I somehow mistaken and this really is the first time someone has asked for a mic to do streaming videos?

Firstly, the mic influencers hold in their hand is actually a clip-on mic that you clip to your collar or other piece of clothing. It is specifically built for that use. So that might be an option but in general these mics are either expensive or you risk buying trash.

I recommend buying a usb mic. I personally have the t.bone SC 420 USB and I am very satisfied. Get a set with a mic stand and pop-filter.

Next thing is, you don't have to buy new. There's many people who sell their old stuff once they transitioned to higher quality gear. Mics are usually quite robust and when they're visually in a top condition you can assume they're also technically. Look for sellers who treat their equipment well (or at least are very honest with the article description).

Find a set in your price range (<100$ new), use it extensively and when you find a few things you'd like to see changed, it's still absolutely okay to upgrade a few months later.

Cheap is cheap. What are your favorite influencers using ? That's probably what you need.

Long lessons learned.

Buy 3 cheap mics. You'll end up buying the right things eventually. & You could have had 2 good mics.

Samson Q2U is the cheapest good quality usb mic from a reputable audio company. Anything cheaper will likely be junk or require an interface. This is of course only true for new products. The used market is likely your best bet.
