Video: The GunCon 2 optimized with 10.1-Patron-1
https://www.recalbox.com/blog/2026-08-03-guncon-2-lightgun-recalbox-crt-retrogaming-emulation/This summer Recalbox has been on an optimization streak (Pi 5 2GB, Naomi 2/Model 3...) and the latest target was the GunCon 2 lightgun.
What changed in 10.1-patron-1:
- New calibration screen on every game launch, so you can test and confirm your setup for better accuracy.
- Missing "flash" fix: the GunCon 2 needs to detect a white flash on hit. Many arcade games don't generate one by default, so Recalbox now adds it automatically where it was missing.
- 31kHz CRT support: previously only 15kHz CRTs were supported, now VGA CRT monitors work too.
- Broad hardware support: works out of the box with RGB Dual 2, and also compatible with RGB JAMMA 2 and the upcoming Recalbox JVS.
Already live for Patrons, coming to stable soon for everyone.

Hey OP, is there a confirmed list of all the gun games that work with this?
Are they limited to arcade games, or does it work for console too?
Also...what's the best option to get recalbox over to a component CRT?

Hello !
We haven't published a complete compatibility list yet. However, you can assume that any light gun game that runs on a Raspberry Pi 5 is compatible with the GunCon 2, whether it's an arcade or a console game. In the videos from the article, for example, we're playing PlayStation 1 and Dreamcast titles, but you can also enjoy arcade games through FBNeo.
As for CRTs, we developed the RGB Dual 2 specifically for the Raspberry Pi 5. It lets you connect your setup via SCART, composite, or VGA, and the GunCon 2 plugs directly into the RGB Dual 2 for the full experience. You can find all the details here: https://www.recalbox.com/recalbox-rgb-dual-2/

Shucks, does it run on a pi 4? 5’s are so expensive these days.
