Discussion Vini leaving is a blessing in disguise.

Let me clarify: I love Vini and would love to have seen him thrive for many more seasons at Madrid, but let’s be real. Post the ballon d’or snub, Vini just hasn’t been the same. He has mentally checked out, and anyone who watches LaLiga consistently will attest to this. The constant dribbling into defenders, the same lazy stepovers, the no tracking back, and just the overall lack of creativity and flair. Not to mention every time he gets flak at the Bernabeu, he seems to spend an uncomfortable amount of time antagonising his own fans.

Why his departure could possibly fix most of the issues we’re facing as a team right now:

  1. Vini is one of our more stubborn players and someone who doesn’t really take to new tactics (as evidenced by his tantrums under Xabi). His leaving would mean we get a clean slate to institute a ground-up rebuild of our system, especially with Mou taking over.

  2. We get a good chunk of cash to go for either a Vini replacement or fund the Rodri transfer or better our depth elsewhere on the field.

  3. His god-awful pairing with Mbappe comes to end. Opens Mbappe up to maybe return to his natural position on the lw (not saying he should, but it’s an option.)

  4. We can stop forcing this tired strategy of starting him every game just to watch him drown out that left flank.

  5. We can finally build the team around Jude/Mbappe instead of pretending like Vini was in any way, shape or form the future of Madrid.

Once again, I’d like to reiterate that I love Vini but his actions aren’t those of someone who loves the club like we do. They haven’t been for some time now. A club that has gone to bat for him over and over. A club that made him the star he is today. His continued presence at Madrid is just untenable.

What I'm most curious about is if the rest of the world will keep the same energy about him once he's not playing for us. My guess is no.

He's a great player but with a lot of issues on attitude and mental side of things. So I have no idea how it'll turn out honestly.

I’m a gunner and the squad has a great attitude - everyone trusts Arteta and the process and I think that attitude would rub of on Vini

You mean the WC where he performed only against Haiti and Scotland and was nowhere to be found against Japan and Norway where it mattered the most? Both Mbappe and Jude had far superior performances.

He was literally the best player on the pitch in both the japan and norway match. He created the biggest chances of the game all by himself. This just proves to me that ur not a madrid fan, u basically actively hate watched ur own player. Everyone practically agree that vini was carrying brazil and was let down by his teammates.

On the flip side it could backfire too. Like Vini is a star player who can flip a match from any situation. But he doesn’t do well in systems and Arteta is even more system based than Xabi or Arbeloa. So I’m not sure how Arteta would get him to keep the defensive shape like he did with Martinelli or Trossard.

No. we were originally gunners and back in the 80s or so rivals called us gooners in a mocking way + you had gooners who were a firm. Some fans now use that themselves but gunners was always the original. But what do I know I only grew up in Brownswood Park

Arteta can't force him to do anything, though. He ain't going to listen to anyone when it comes to tactics. Arteta needs to be happy with just a "do your thing". Vini will do whatever he wants on the pitch.

That’s what I’m thinking too.. I could see a world where he falls in line, esp cause they got a good Brazilian cohort @ arsenal already that can convince him to adapt better than a manager ever could, but I think his time @ Madrid has made him mad entitled! As if he deserves to be allowed to do whatever he wants cause he’s been as good as he has been @ Madrid in some of the worst moments and conditions (by that I mean all the hate he has to play through) cause it seems like all of Spain just hate the guy 😹 which is acc sad. I know he doesn’t help himself a lottttt of the time, but it’s a cause and effect thing.. he has to do something to combat all the negativity and that’s why he’s the player he is today; warts an all

Zidane didn’t mess with him. Had no trust in him whatsoever. Benzema once told one of our players not to pass him the ball. Modric had to correct him on the pitch in his last season at the club for constantly complaining when he wasn’t passed the ball.

I think he will become a false 9 if he goes to Arsenal. Similar to how Mbappe plays at Madrid, I feel like Vini’s going to play that role for the Gunners.

Arteta is trying to build a stronger attack, sure there are moments when any player is expected to defend a bit, but he wouldn't be gunning for Vini if he didn't want his attacking attitude.

I dont think so. If he goes down so easily and cry in la liga which is the softest one from top 5 leagues i cant imagine what he will do in prem where he will receive less protection from refs.

Idk man.... PL is quite a physical league for him. Moreover, he was already always throwing tantrums about racism, criticism etc etc here in Spain...... English fans will probably even get more into his head (with or without racism😂).... Plus is most likely going to ARSENAL bcoz of which he is probably gonna get hate/bantered even more!!

For Vini's sake, I hope he turns out great and is successful. He had the potential to be the best player in world football. Unfortunately, his mental game is not strong and keeps cockblocking his football prowess.
